“You are loved. Maybe you don’t feel loved right now. But that doesn’t mean you are unwanted. No matter what you see or hear, know yourself and believe that there is nothing to be afraid of. Know this, what you see may not always be true.”
TW: Mentions of suicide. Foul language.
The girl sat still.
Everything was quiet. The only sounds that could be heard were the gentle breathing of the girl and the tender swaying of the branches of the willow in the wind.
It was peaceful. Calm. A feeling of eternity.
“Why are you here?”
The girl spun around quickly, startled.
“Answer me!”
No one was around. She looked around to locate the source of the voice. It was harsh, but gentle in its own way. She had a feeling that the owner of this voice knew what she was feeling. She knew that this voice would help her. That’s what she hoped.
She continued looking around. Found it. A figure above her. It kept swaying from time to time along with the branches of the tree. There was something comforting about the disheveled figure. A feeling of closeness. Maybe.
“Tell me, what are you doing here?”
“Nothing.”
The girl shivered slightly in the cold.
“Do you want to hear a story?”
“Mhm.”
“Climb the tree. Look out for the stumps.”
The girl did as she was told. On reaching a branch of the same height as the figure, she stopped and sat down. For once, she was comfortable. She wasn’t scared of the man. She knew she was only seeing things and hearing voices in her own head, but as long as they were soothing and not scary, she didn’t mind them. She looked over the hills. She could see the mountains, the river and the bright moon through the branches of the willow.
“It’s pretty, isn’t it?”
“Hm.”
“You sometimes wish that your life was also beautiful, don’t you? Isn’t that why you came here?”
“No.”
“No?”
“Mm.”
“Then what is it? Tell me.”
“I wish I could stop everything around me.”
“Hm. Why?”
“For some peace and quiet.”
“Mm. I’ll tell the story now?”
“Sure.”
“It’s a long story. My story.”
“Your story?”
“Yes.”
