False beginnings

The war started over 80,000,000 years ago, and 278 trillion lives on both sides   lost. At least that was at last count, I don’t think anyone is even keeping track anymore. Allied strategic command will never admit this but we’re losing, you can go from one allied planet to another and see it. There are no governments, no police no…, no civilization.

Especially in an area called the camps, the camps are a cluster of planets

near the front lines. Usually, those planets are off-limits, but back when I was a fighter wing pilot my wingman went down on the worst camp planet of them all… Earth, rumour has it that Earth is the birthplace of mankind and that’s where this war began over a millennia ago.

I requested permission to go Rescue her but them fucking cocksuckers were blasting the planet from orbit for weeks, so command denied my request. But I didn’t care, I headed straight to that shit whole planet.

You would have to be fucking nuts to live here, the air just became breathable about a thousand years ago. Anyway, when I finally landed at Donna’s crash site, that’s Lt Commander Green. I immediately ran over to her star fighter; it didn’t look like anyone could have possibly survived that. But the problem is if she bailed out before the crash she could be anywhere on this desolate Rock, but then I remembered if she had bailed out the emergency beacon on her flight suit would have activated automatically.

I ran back to my star fighter punched in her transponder code; she was 348 km’s away.

“Commander Denison to commander Green you copy,” All I got was static, so again I said, “commander Denison to commander Green do you have a copy.” Still nothing.

I fired up my engine’s and punched it.

When I got to her, she was still sitting in her ejection seat slumped over, I thought she was dead. I jumped out of the fighter and ran over to her, “Donna!” I yelled out.

“Donna,” when I got to her, I checked her vitals on her flight suit, her pulse was elevated, and she had a bloody nose but other than that she was fine. She must’ve passed out when she punched out of her star fighter.

I ran back to mine and grabbed the first aid kit, took out smelling salts.

“Donna,” I repeated, “wake up, please wake up.” Just as I cracked open the salts she started to come to, “Donna wake up,”

“We gotta go…Aden.” she said in a weak voice.

“You came after me. you have to get out of here their going to court martial you, go.” she said.

As I started to take her helmet off, I looked in her beautiful big brown eyes and held her by both arms and said I’m not going anywhere without you.” Then, for the first time I kissed her.

As our lips touched, I was both excited and afraid…I never wanted this moment to end, but, at the same time I knew we had to get moving.

Just then, a massive explosion hit like thirty or forty feet away, it kicked up a huge dust storm.

Out of instinct I jumped on Donna to protect her from the debris, then I looked around to see where the explosion came from; when I looked up, I saw four more balls of light coming from the sky. “Fuck there coming, come on Donna we gotta go.”

“My arm she said, I can’t move it.” I started to unbuckle her from the ejection seat, just as I undid the last buckle another massive explosion hit and sent us flying.

I was a little bit dazed, and Donna grabbed my arm.

“Get up Aden get up. we must get to your star fighter.” we started running to the fighter there was another impact.

Donna yelled out to me, “What are they firing at if they were targeting the fighter, it would have been destroyed by now.”

 “I don’t know” I replied.

we were running as fast as we could to the fighter, and when we got to it Donna jumped into the navigator seat, I got in the pilot seat Fired up the engines and performed an emergency take off.

when we finally got above the clouds, forward Sensors Picked up two enemy star fighters on an intercept course.

I tried to punch through the Atmosphere before they got to us but there wasn’t going to be enough time. I levelled off, pushing the throttle hard to get up enough speed to do a vertical flip.

Donna called out, “they got a solid lock, missiles in the air.”

“Tell me when they were close to fifty miles away.” I said as I continued to push down on the throttle.

“Two hundred, ninety-five, now.” she said.

I quickly engaged my forward maneuvering thrusters, cut my main engines, did a tight vertical flip. I then punched my main engines hard and fired all thruster’s, I continued on and did a left-hand barrel roll, the missile came within two millimetres of scraping our belly.

I started a right-hand barrel roll, yelling to Donna to pop the flair’s, at that same moment I was firing both AP Gatling guns and acquired a missile lock.

We got lucky they flew straight into our AP fire I think we must’ve hit his oxygen tanks for his life support system cause that fucker just fuckin’ blew.

“Captain Denison, would you please conduct yourself as if you were addressing a military tribunal and not entertaining your friends at a Bar, you will show these proceedings the respect they deserve.” The admiral cut me off abruptly.

“Admiral, the deal I made says that I have to testify in my own words the crimes I have committed and or been a part of, if I forget anything or leave anything out my deal is revoked so I’m gonna tell this whole thing my way. Besides, you need to know what I’m about to say so fuck you. fuck you. Oh, and most of all fuck you.” I said pointing to each member of the tribunal Judges, in the courtroom individually.

“Order. There will be order in this court room or I will have it cleared; any further disruptions from the gallery and I will have these proceedings closed to the public.” Admiral Marks replied, before continuing. “Captain, you want to showboat be our guest.”

“No Admiral, it’s not about show boating, I just have no respect for you or this panel.” I commented honestly.

You realize, Captain, this panel can revoke your immunity and have you executed.” He warned.

“Do it, then you will never know what I know. Spoiler alert Admiral Marks, it doesn’t end well.” I said sarcastically.

“Very well Captain Denison, you may tell the whole thing your way.” He said through a hesitated sigh.

“Ah. yeah, I know. So, sit down shut the fuck up and pay attention.” I said before finally continuing the story.

“So, right after we destroyed the first fighter…” ...

Donna yelled out, “We got another one on us five o’clock high. He’s got a lock.”

I reversed all thruster’s, put the automatic targeting system on. Dove straight down into an impact crater on the earth surface so he would have to fly in behind us, making it easier for the system to get a lock.  “Enemy contact destroyed.” Donna called out in relief.

“How the fuck did that happen.” I questioned.

“I don’t know.” she put simply.

I pulled up before, we find out, I came this far to save you. I’m not gonna kill you now.” I chuckled.

Just then we heard.

“This is Captain Jenson of the tactical command ship Freedom, What the hell are you doing down their commander?” Come over the radio.

“Just seeing the sites Captain,” I said without missing a beat.

“Was that you who took care of our friend back there?” I asked. He responded without missing a beat.

“Sure, was commander, he wouldn’t talk to me he hurt my feelings.” I didn’t know you were so sensitive.” I said, winking at Donna, making her snicker.

“Are you combat effective commander.” He asked ignoring my smart antics.

“Negative Captain,” I said reluctantly, because I wanted to get back in the fight, but I knew that I had to of blown out over half the electrical relays in the star fighter. Also, I needed to reload my weapons and Donna needed her arm looked at.

“I had to pull a hail Mary maneuver, Captain.” I reluctantly admitted.

“You pulled a hail Mary maneuver in an atmospheric environment, commander, are you insane? get my fighter back here, I think I need to reconsider your flight status. commander Green, how are you?” he said in an angry tone, not even giving me a chance to explain.

“Ready to get back into the fight Sir,” she said quickly.

“Excellent,” he said at the same time the connection was breaking up as we overheard the ship’s tactical officer say, multiple enemy contacts Comin in hot Captain.”

That's when we heard the captain say, “Red alert all hands to battle stations.” Then someone said, “Holy fuck where did they all come from.”

“What’s happening up there, Captain.” I asked wary.

“We got multiple, thousands of enemy contacts in coming. We have to bug out till we get reinforcements, get your ass up here commander, we gotta go.” He said with great concern in his voice.

“Just go” I said, “By the time we get up there they will be all over us.”

Just as I finished saying that we heard the tactical officer say, “Jesus fucking Christ. Captain, do you see the size of that thing.”
