Summary

Maree wasn't the best looking woman in the world. And her highschool crush Ryan Larson didn't fail to make it known that she was a fat girl, who's partially blind, with glasses, a moon boot brace and a low self esteem. But her parents and his parents were finance partners so that meant, his parents needed to reassure their spot by making their only son talk to their oldest daughter who also knew a lot about finance. Once they hit prom he obviously couldn't take it anymore, told her everything she already knew that she was already insecure about. Worse, it wasn't just to herself, but the whole prom at that. But that was years ago, she should be over it. And if that's the case meeting him again and being forced to work with him should be a breeze...right?

Chapter 1

"Maree! Oh my gosh! Guess what?!" "What?" "You know that surprise actor I was telling you that was coming down here to manage the beautiful nutcracker performance is coming to OUR hotel?" "That's nice. I'm glad your happy." Maree worked at a hotel. It was her only choice. Her only option. As people care about appearance before skill. Even if that meant her financial degree was a bit of a waste. Luckily, her boss allowed her to be assistant manager. So she did get a bit of what she wanted. But the woman standing in front of her now and explaining all of this was one of the women that worked at the front desk named Andy. She had dreads, a beautiful black skin woman. Not as dark as Maree but she was definitely a dark black woman. Also the only woman she could get along with completely. "What? Do you not know who I'm talking about?" "No." Andy squealed. "Then I have a surprise for you. He'll be arriving shortly." "Ok." "Come on!" "Oh." Maree stood up following Andy to the check-in desk. "Sit." Maree sat down in a chair. "Gosh I can't wait! Can you?" "I don't know who he is. Are you a fan of him?" "Well yeah! He's managed so many new movies we have. And now he's managing a stage movie, the nutcracker." "Yes. Right." Andy sat down in the opposite desk. Maree exhaled watching Andy stare at her diamond watch. Suddenly their boss popped up. Her heels clicking and clacking on the hard wood floor, few people behind her. "Everyone up! We have a special guest coming. I want no messing this up for me. Our special guest coming is paying a lot for our best suite and will not take anything but the best. So. Everyone clear!" They all agreed and just seconds after the doors opened to the hotel. A tall man dressed in an all black suit. His phone pressed to his ear. "Greetings Mr. Larson." The man stared at her, brows furrowed. The boss; Martha cleared her throat. Different guards set his bags down around him. "Someone get my bags. I'm having an important call." He stated walking away. "Oh um." Martha looked around. "You. Maree. Get his bags and take them to his room." Maree stood up. She grabbed his luggage, wincing at the heaviness. What did he carry? Bricks and statues?" She started to run as she saw the impatient look on his face. She stood next to him breathing out. "Sorry- Your to close." "..." She moved over her eyes going down. It was a loud awkward silence before they finally stepped out of the elevator, him leaving her to get to his room. Maree walked in. Setting his luggage by the door. Her eyes going around just half of the giant room that she didn't even know existed. "I need some water." "I don't- Thank you." He firmly stated cutting her off. She paused. "Now!" She walked out of the room down to the break room. Andy smiled at her. "How did it go meeting with Ryan Larson in the flesh?"
