She stared into the mirror. The face there looked just like her, but somehow seemed alien. It wrinkled its nose when she did, crossed it's eyes when she did... Ruby grimaced at her image, feeling much like Alice before stepping through the looking glass. If only sleep were easier to come by.

The woman placed her hand onto her forehead, feeling for a possible fever. The Ruby in the mirror seemed to distort when the door to the medicine cabinet swung open. Something hard and sharp met Ruby's hand where a smooth, but possibly hot and clammy forehead was expected.

She flipped the cabinet closed. There was nothing in the mirror. No Ruby. She flipped the door open again to stare through a mirror-sized window into a rainforest.

Ruby blinked, then looked back into the bedroom where everything seemed just as she had left it. Her boyfriend sat comfortably in bed, swiping away at his phone.

She turned back to the medicine cabinet/window into the Amazon and watched a brontosaurus stalk past. Just then her knees buckled. The bones in her feet twisted painfully. Her knees stuck together while scales grew over her legs. She stared down at where her toes should have wiggled back at her. Fins?

"Hey, what's all the ruckus? Are you okay in there?" the bed springs creaked, and steps came closer. "What's this app on your phone supposed to do? I get nothing when - what the..."

Ruby managed to gasp a "CLICK RESET!" past her new gills. He did and promptly dropped the phone, backing up ten steps. "Whoa!"

Ruby got up and stretched all her properly evolved limbs back into position. The medicine cabinet held nothing out of the ordinary. Her mirror image raised an eyebrow. She retrieved her phone.

"I think you'd better go." The words weren't necessary. He was already scrambling into his shoes. Ruby bolted the door behind him and stared at her phone. Well... That was an adventure. The app had worked. Triumph sang across her features. The real trick would be security. How would she keep people from pushing her buttons?
