Heartbreakers:The cursed child

"This is the best book, I've read so far. Normally I ain't a fan of books without anime or k-pop characters but this book had me wrapped around it's covers. I've been busy with many things but I couldn't stop myself from coming back to read even though I had a very chaotic past few months. Anyway, this book is right on spot. Kudos to the writer"

A Survival Story!

"This book probably has some spicy scenes, but I’m still at the beginning, so what I’ve gotten so far is all about survival. :) It’s the story of a 19-year-old girl trying to find her place in the world after years of being bullied by her family and treated like a slave. She finally decides enough is enough and leaves her hometown. The first five chapters mainly focus on her journey to get away, meeting new people (and reconnecting with an old friend) who leave a mark on her and help her tremendously. It’s already heartbreaking—especially the goodbye scene with Serena. Hft, leaving the town where you grew up is always hard, isn’t it? Anyway, since I’m still at the beginning, I don’t fully know where the story is headed yet. I’d say it’s definitely taking the slow-burn romance route. Even five chapters in, I’m not entirely sure who the ML is, lol. 🤣 For the record, the chapters are very, very short, which makes it feel like a slow burn. Personally, I’d prefer longer chapters with more scenes to drive the story forward, but I know some readers prefer short chapters for easier binge reading. So far, the story is interesting, and I think the drama will kick in around the middle. It’s enjoyable, and I really like the MC. She’s strong and independent, knows what she wants, and goes after it. That said, some of the key moments in her life are more “told” than “shown.” For example, her backstory with her family and her relationship with Serena are explained but not fully fleshed out in scenes. In my opinion, adding more “show” rather than “tell” moments would make the story feel more alive and the characters more multidimensional. However, I suspect the author may be doing this to fast-forward to the main plot, which seems to begin after she runs away from home (just my guess!). For anyone who enjoys coming-of-age romance, this one is definitely worth a try. Plus, it’s set in London! Yumm, hello hot British guys, haha. Her ML must be absolutely swoon-worthy! 🔥🩷❤️"

Cursed by Mystery: Breaking Hearts and Boundaries

"I’ve read the book "Book One Of The Heartbreaker Series: The Cursed Child" up to Chapter 8, and I must say that the storyline has been quite exciting so far. You're immediately drawn into the action and naturally find yourself questioning many things along the way. I would recommend any reader who decides to give this book a shot to read at least up to Chapter 8 or 9 before forming an opinion. The writing style is enjoyable and easy to follow, and you can tell the author put significant effort into crafting certain dialects (or maybe they’re even from the same region?). The pacing of the story is comfortable. Most of the time, it revolves around where the protagonist is trying to go next or whom she encounters. Since I’m not entirely sure what the author’s intention is with this particular style or why the characters are described somewhat superficially, I won’t be too critical of that aspect yet. The author tends to focus on physical descriptions, and then the characters seem to disappear quickly as the scenes end abruptly. I assume this might hint at the protagonist not being particularly fond of social interactions? Ratings: How do you rate the plot of this story? 4/5 – The plot is intriguing and holds your attention, but it hasn’t revealed much within the first seven chapters. There’s a sense of mystery, but perhaps too many unanswered questions early on. How do you rate the author's writing style? 4.5/5 – The author has a smooth and accessible writing style that makes for a pleasant reading experience. It’s clear that effort has been put into creating an authentic voice for the characters. How do you rate the author's technical writing skills (punctuation, grammar, etc.)? 5/5 – The technical aspects of the writing are excellent. Punctuation, grammar, and structure are handled well, making the book easy to read without any distracting errors. Overall Score: 4/5 I initially wanted to give it 4.5, but I noticed only whole numbers are allowed. As mentioned, the plot is quite intriguing, but not much has been revealed within the first seven chapters."

A young woman in search for a better life. (10 chapters read so far)

"Yulia is on the run from abusive parents and is searching for a new life. The first ten chapters trace her journey to start afresh. Yet there is no real sense of danger even when encountering nasty characters to reach London as providence, many kind strangers and an old friend (who she meets accidentally) help her along. But the hints of something mysterious underfoot (her dreams, rather nightmares, memories of "him" and their past, her talking voice in public, etc) stood out as the highlight for me. The storytelling reflects the character's (a teenager) worldview. Some of the descriptions were over the top for me, and a few of the short chapters were fillers that didn't help the plot progress. The settings were underdeveloped. Having used the underground/subways and trains, I wished for more about their unique ambiance. Also, while editing down the line, keep an eye out for the repeated words. Bottom line: I believe the teen reader demographics will LOVE the story. Yulia sure is on an adventure. There is a lot of potential in Karmen's writing and the storyline, especially the element of mystery that should (in my opinion) be at the forefront of the plot. Those few sections had me hooked."

Good Foundation

"Hello. First of all, the work itself is a good Idea and from what your summary suggests something quite interesting to read. The first chapter/prologue despite having one or two error in the continence draws the reader in. They style is doesn't feel tedious which always is a good thing. Now to the things in my eyes could be improved on. Please note this is only my personal perspective on it. First thing I noticed was that the first two or three parts were comparably longer than the other chapters. It helps when they are on average about the same length. I am not sure if it's caused by editing but sometimes there are information in the story or missing that don't fit with the rest. This causes confusion. And makes the reader question if they have read that right in the worst case they my question the logic or put the book aside. This can be improved through adding details in some areas like the actual temperature or the time of the day. Since you write in the first perspective you can add the thoughts and feelings in a much more detailed manner. Serval times while reading I had the hope to find a more show instead of tell kind of description. Like when you describe a new place or a person. You have that in some scenes as well so keep that up. The pacing of the story is quite fast and feels almost rushed. She is on the run. You can add those emotions, the anxiety in there. When she told her best friend she met through a coincidence I would have liked if you had added some dialog there or maybe your main character thinking back to those moments and we are told them as if they were happening now. In some aspects it also feels like her escape is going too smooth there is no one asking too much questions or trying to drag her to the police station. They all are rather agreeing and helpful. That seems a bit strange to me but that could be counted as personal thing. So feel free to ignore that if you disagree with this part. There was the start of the book which still doesn't make really sense to me. Why go to a club when trying to escape the city. I couldn't differentiate if the next chapter was meant to seamlessly fit to the first one(which it did) or was more meant as a sight for a future situation. All in all I think the idea you present in the summary has potential. But I also think there are many aspects that could be improved on. Like making sure that there are no logical problems or plot holes. I hope this helps you improve your work. "
