Chapter 1: Saving the Life of a 3-year-old Toddler Boy.

On a clear, cool summer day in New York City, the bustling metropolis buzzed with activity. Graham and Grace Calloway strolled down the city sidewalk, following their daily routine of a morning walk. Suddenly, a speeding car raced down the street, causing a deafening crash that startled them both.

Grace inquired curiously, "What was that, Gray?" She gazed at her husband with intrigue.

Grace, a 25-year-old woman with shoulder-length blonde hair and azure-blue eyes, stood tall at 5'7. Her husband, Graham, a 28-year-old man with messy brown hair and light brown eyes, shared the same height. The couple, who had been married for 3 blissful years, had recently immigrated from the vibrant city of Sydney, Australia. Despite their longing for children, their journey to parenthood had been fraught with heartache. They attempted to conceive naturally, but each pregnancy resulted in devastating miscarriages. Even their hopes of adoption had left them shattered. The couple made the courageous decision to embark on the adoption journey once more, only to discover they were facing a seemingly endless waiting list.

Graham's response was filled with curiosity and determination, saying, 'I don't know, let's find out, come on.' With a reassuring grip on Grace's hand, they embarked on a journey toward the source of the car crash. The sound of the collision echoing in the distance, urging them forward into the unknown. the car crash.

An hour later, Graham and Grace reached the site and were taken aback by the grim scene unfolding before their eyes. A black car lay in ruins in front of them, its front end mangled from the impact. With a mix of dread and curiosity, they cautiously made their way towards the wrecked vehicle.

Graham and Grace briskly approached the crumpled black car, determined to find any survivors amidst the wreckage. Their eyes swept the scene until they noticed the open front driver's side window and back driver's side window. A sudden gasp escaped them as they spotted a Woman in her prime thirties seated in the front. She stood at 5'6 with a mane of shoulder-length brunette hair framing hazel eyes. Despite her striking features, she appeared injured, her body pinned by the steering wheel with cuts decorating her face, arms, and legs. Without hesitation, Graham sprang into action, assessing the woman's vitals, and was met with the sound of her faint moans. At that moment, Grace's attention was drawn to a new sound emanating from the rear seat of the car - a small voice that resembled the innocence of a child.

The sweet and eager voice of a child exclaimed, 'Mommy, Mommy, Mommy.'

As Grace glanced at the back seat of the car, she was taken aback to discover a 3-year-old toddler. The little boy, standing at a height of about 4 feet 5 inches, had short brown hair and warm brown eyes. He sat calmly in a Toddler Car Seat, miraculously untouched by the accident.

With resolve in her voice, Grace exclaimed to Gray, 'I've discovered a real-life person tucked in the toddler car seat. I must extricate him swiftly from the confines of the car.'

With confidence, Graham offered Grace his trusty pocket knife, reassuring her, 'Here, take my pocket knife. I'll handle this.' Grace accepted the tool, nodding gratefully as she received it from Graham, who had retrieved it from his own pocket.

Grace confidently seized the pocket knife from his hand, then leaned her head through the open rear driver's side window, catching the 3-year-old toddler boy's gaze. He recoiled in fear at the sight of her.

Grace reassured the frightened toddler, 'It's alright, sweetheart. My husband and I are here to assist you and your mommy. I need to release you, so you must be brave for me, understood?' Grace's words calmed the 3-year-old boy, who nodded hesitantly in agreement.

Grace smiled warmly as she began the delicate task of cutting the strap in the toddler car seat to free the young boy. Once she set him loose, she returned Graham's pocket knife, watching him tuck it away. With tender care, she lifted the 3-year-old toddler out of his seat, cradling him in her arms. The boy wrapped his tiny arms around her neck, nestled his head against her chest, and drifted off to sleep.

Graham suggested, "Grace, would you mind taking him to our apartment? I will remain here with his mom, awaiting the timely arrival of the Paramedics, the fire department, and the police."

As Grace began her ascent, she calmly addressed Gray before swiftly sweeping the 3-year-old toddler boy off his feet and into her arms. Meanwhile, Graham lingered by the wreckage of the car, a solitary figure amidst the chaos.

In an instant, Graham detected the woman stirring. As she opened her eyes, he advised her to remain still. Concerned, she inquired about the whereabouts of her 3-year-old son. With reassurance, Graham assured her that her son was secure and well. He informed her that his wife had taken the boy to their apartment. The woman gazed up at Graham and, summoning all her strength, reached out and placed her hand on his. Their eyes locked in understanding.

With a frail voice, the woman gazed at Graham and uttered, "Promise me, promise me, promise me that you and your wife will care for my son."

In the distance, the wailing sound of the fire truck and ambulance pierced the air, signaling an emergency. Graham stood transfixed, his senses overwhelmed, until he gathered his thoughts and finally responded to the call.

In a resolute tone, Graham solemnly declared, "I assure you, you have my guarantee that my wife and I will cherish and protect your son as if he were our own flesh and blood, I give you my word of honor."

The woman's smile lingered on Graham's lips as her hand slipped from his grasp, and with a gentle flutter of her eyelids, she drifted into eternal slumber. It dawned on Graham that she had quietly departed from this world.

Back at Grace and Graham's apartment, with the 3-year-old Toddler Boy in tow, Grace arrived and promptly provided him with a meal before settling him down on the cozy bed for a well-deserved nap. As Grace waited anxiously for Graham's return to the apartment, the door creaked open an hour later. Graham entered the foyer, and Grace hurried to greet him. They embraced each other warmly until Grace noticed a somber expression on his face. It dawned on her that something was amiss. Shock washed over her as Graham recounted the events that unfolded after she and the 3-year-old toddler, Todd, had departed. He revealed the promise he had made to the boy's biological mother, who tragically passed away soon after they had left.Grace was taken aback by Graham's revelation, and they embraced each other tightly.

An hour later, the 3-year-old Toddler Boy awakened from his nap. Grace and Graham gently seated him on the plush couch and compassionately shared the heartbreaking news of his mother's passing. As tears welled up in his eyes, Grace enveloped him in a warm embrace, holding him close to offer solace and comfort.

Graham reassured the little guy, "No worries, you've still got us, and we're going to take care of you," he said tenderly, gazing at the 3-year-old toddler boy.

With wide eyes filled with hope, the 3-year-old toddler boy inquired, "Are you going to be my new Mommy and Daddy?"

"Yes, we are, dear," Grace replied with a smile directed at him.

An hour later, they arrived at the quaint local courthouse to finalize the adoption process. With joyful hearts, Graham and Grace officially became parents to a delightful 3-year-old toddler son, whom they lovingly named Greg. another hour later they were turning the guest room into a bedroom for Greg, they had brought in a Toy Box that was filled with Toys, a bookshelf that was filled with Books and Toys, a Dresser Drawer that had Clothes, a bedroom closet that has Clothes, a bunch of Melissa & Doug Stuffed Animals and Melissa & Doug Toys. One hour later, they sat down to dinner. The table was adorned with a feast of crispy fried chicken, sweet corn on the cob, vibrant broccoli and cauliflower, and earthy beets. To accompany their meal, they enjoyed fizzy soda pop. It was a delightful spread for their evening meal. As they watched TV and later went to bed, years passed and Central Park's trees transformed, their leaves shifting from green to a vibrant blend of yellow and orange. The park became a sea of striking colors, enveloping the surroundings in a warm, autumnal glow. On a crisp autumn day, Greg was embarking on his first day of kindergarten after completing preschool. The trio of Graham, Grace, and Greg strolled hand in hand towards the Elementary school, serving as a symbol of unity and excitement for the new chapter ahead. Graham firmly grasped Greg's left hand, while Grace held tightly onto Greg's right hand. Skipping cheerfully between them, Greg's Paw Patrol Backpack bounced playfully on his back, matching the bounce in his step. A wide smile adorned Greg's face, radiating joy and contentment as he walked alongside his companions.

After about an hour, they reached the elementary school. Upon entering, they proceeded to the kindergarten classroom. Inside, they found a bustling scene with parents and children mingling. Graham was engaged in a conversation with the kindergarten teacher, Miss Rigg. Grace and Greg made their way over to the cubby area. Greg lit up when he spotted his designated cubby, adorned with his name. With a sense of accomplishment, he carefully hung his jacket and backpack on the hook below his name. As the clock ticked another hour, Graham, Grace, and the rest of the parents bid farewell to the kindergarten. Graham and Grace exchanged waves with Greg, who reciprocated the gesture as they departed through the front door, leaving behind his desk proudly displaying his name. As the kindergarten day commenced and the energetic Miss Rigg took the reins of the classroom, Greg stood out by actively participating and eagerly engaging in every learning opportunity. With the sun climbing higher in the sky, Free-Time arrived, granting the young learners the freedom to pursue their passions. Creativity filled the air as some children sketched vibrant pictures, others immersed themselves in coloring, and a few navigated through the digital realm of computer games. Amidst the bustling activities, Greg initially hesitated, but eventually found his voice through a colored pencil. Delicately shading a charming image of a dog, he planned to present this heartfelt gift to his dear mother, Grace. Receiving a coloring page featuring a dog, he eagerly fetched his box of crayons from the desk, and with anticipation, he carefully opened it. Selecting the rich brown crayon, he began to color the charming dog, bringing it to life with each stroke.

As Greg colored, a young boy, also 3 years old, approached him and settled down next to him. This new arrival sported short black hair and deep black eyes, standing at about 4 feet and 6 inches tall, until Greg took notice of him.

As he gazed intently, the young boy declared, 'Hi, I'm Timmy.'

Greg greeted with a friendly smile, saying, "Hi, I'm Greg."

Timmy inquired, "What are you coloring?"

Greg replied, "I'm coloring a dog for my Mommy."

Timmy exclaimed excitedly, "I'm coloring an airplane to give to my Mommy!"

As the two boys continued coloring their pictures, a bond formed between them, leading them to declare themselves best friends. With each passing hour, their friendship solidified as they shared meals, played together during recess, and engaged in various activities side by side. another hour later the kindergarten students were collecting their work pages that they've done, put on their jackets and backpacks, walked out of the kindergarten classroom, some of the kindergarten students were running toward their parents that were waiting for them outside of the elementary school, and some went home on school buses. As Greg strolled towards the school bus, he caught sight of his new best friend, Timmy, in the company of other children. With a warm grin, they exchanged waves to bid farewell to each other. Timmy boarded the school bus, embarking on his journey home from school. Meanwhile, Greg strolled alongside his parents, Graham and Grace, as they made their way to their apartment. The family savored a delightful dinner, indulged in a captivating TV show, and eventually retired to bed.

As the sun rose on a quiet Saturday morning, Graham ventured out of the apartment, leaving Grace and Greg to immerse themselves in their usual weekend routines. Amidst the peaceful ambiance, an hour later, Graham made his way back, a mysterious object tucked securely under his jacket, catching the attention of Grace and Greg.

Grace inquired, "Greg, what do you have in your jacket?"

Curious and full of anticipation, Greg inquired, "Hey Daddy, what treasures are hidden in your jacket?"

Graham sighed as he carefully unzipped his jacket. Grace and Greg leaned in, their curiosity piqued. Suddenly, a pair of glowing eyes met their gaze, followed by a small black nose, a mouth, and perked ears emerging from the jacket. It was then that Grace and Greg realized they were face to face with a Pembroke Welsh Corgi.

Grace inquired, 'Oh, Graham, where did you acquire this adorable little fellow?'

Greg exclaimed, "Oh, Daddy, he's absolutely adorable!"

Graham placed the Pembroke Welsh Corgi on the ground and allowed Greg to play with him.

While strolling, a faint whimper caught my attention, like a melody in a quiet symphony. Intrigued, I traced the sound to its source and discovered a small creature in distress, tethered beneath a table, quivering from the chill in the air. With gentle hands, I released the little one from its constraints, and a wave of relief swept over them. Cradling the newfound friend in my arms, I tucked them safely within my jacket for warmth. A visit to the veterinarian confirmed their well-being, granting us a clean bill of health. Seeking answers, I reached out to the local animal shelter, inquiring if anyone had reported a missing companion matching this description. Alas, no claim had been made, leaving us with a silent agreement to embark on a new chapter together. 'I chose to bring this precious soul to our abode,' Graham mused, a sense of purpose gleaming in his eyes.

"I think that we should keep him," Grace said.

I think we should too, and he likes me," Greg replied as the Pembroke Welsh Corgi started jumping on him.

All right, I think that we should name him Max," Graham said.

Grace replied, "I like that name."

In agreement, Greg exclaimed, "Me Too."

Max replied with a series of barks, 'Arf, Arf.'

“Alright, Max it is. Welcome to the Calloway Family, Max Calloway,” Graham warmly exclaimed.

They ate Dinner, Watched TV, and went to bed, as another year went by, the weather became colder, Grace, Graham, and Greg went shopping for their Thanksgiving Food, they were at a local grocery store, Graham was pushing the shopping cart, while Grace was holding Greg's Hand, they were getting a Turkey, Yams, Marshmallows, Turkey Stuffing, Pumpkin Pie Mix, and a Veggie Platter, they walked to the check-out counter, and bought the groceries, they took the groceries and returned to the apartment.
