Stoneheart Ogirin Part 1
Kairo's Pov
I just finished a long, boring meeting with Mr. Gabriel Agreste, where he appointed me as his son's new bodyguard. Which happen to not be the easiest thing to do for a multitude of reasons. for starters I was only a year older than his son. That alone probably didn't sit right with a lot of people. A sixteen-year-old should still be at school and everything. but also the man clearly had trust issues.
The only thing I had going for me was my godfather who had this job before me had recently retired and had vouched for me. From what I heard from my godfather, I didn't like how Gabriel Agreste 'protected' his son- if you could call it that. It felt more like imprisonment to me.
Before meeting the man, I had my contract written up specifying that I would exclusively work for Adrien Agreste, my intended client. Given that plan, I wasn't really expecting to land the job, considering Gabriel Agreste appeared to be power-hungry. He didn't seem like the man to give up any control he had and he had a lot of it. To my surprise, the man didn't even read my contract before signing it with a flourish.. After going over all the rules and regulations which I didn't have to even bother listening to. The man demanded I start right away and was to stay at the mansion in the room across from his son's.
He called for his assistant and she led me to my new room. She informed me that the closet contained my attire for any possible occasion and instructed me to be ready at 8:30 sharp every morning. With that, she turned on her heel and swiftly walked away down the hallway. I was very tired ready to enter my new room when the thought hit me.
Technically, even though Gabriel Agreste was paying me due to the contract he signed, I was still unemployed until I spoke with his son. So I rubbed my eyes and then checked my watch, it wasn't that late. I confidently strolled across the hall and knocked on the door after a few moments of silence. The boy must actually be asleep, I turned on my heel when a groan and footsteps proved me wrong.
I stood straightening my black tee shirt as the door opened and light flooded the dark hallway. Expecting to be at eye level with the boy it was a surprise that I had to look half a head down to meet his eye. The most dazzling pair of emerald green eyes I'd ever seen. Flowing golden locks framed his face, which was currently scrunched up in an adorable yawn.
Words weren't my strong suit, but I knew I had to say something. Just as I was thinking this, the beautiful blonde spoke up, "Um, can I help you?" he asked staring at me with a cute confused look on his face. "oh yes, my apologies, um could I maybe come in for a moment? This is not the best conversation to have in the hallway, we have a business to discuss." I replied, the other boy continued to look confused but stepped aside and let me in any way.
As I walked in I had to quickly school my facial features and control my surprise. I had never seen, let alone been in a room so big. My eyes taking a quick sweep of the room checking for weak points in the security. I was brought out of my reverie by a cough behind me. The blonde stood there with his arms crossed over his chest, waiting for me to explain myself. "I must apologize for my rudeness. I'm not good at speaking with others," I began. "Anyway, my name is Kairo Blade. Your father attempted to hire me as your bodyguard." Unfortunately for him due ignorance on his part he can not" I explained proud of myself for fooling the man.
"Not that I'm surprised by my father's ignorance but what does that have to do with me?" He asked. "Good question. I suggest you read these," I said, smirking at the blonde as I handed him the same papers I had given his father. He told the papers and walked over to his desk, sat down, and started reading.
After five minutes in silence with only the occasional flip of a paper once he was finished. Placing the papers on the table he turned to look at me "Just to clarify what does that actually mean?" he asked looking a mix of hopeful and cautious. "That I work for you, not your father. It's my responsibility to maintain your physical, emotional, and mental health, as well as keep you safe from crazed fans," I explained. "I take my job very seriously. If I see that you're even slightly uncomfortable, that person will be removed from the premises," I stated confidently.
To my surprise, this seemed to upset the blonde. "Is there something unsatisfactory with the contract?" I asked, confused, wondering what I had said wrong. "I can't go anywhere unless Father permits it, right? Places that are deemed unsafe?" he clarified causing me to almost want to beat Gabriel Agreste black and blue.
"Look, I never said your father was going to like it, but I can't keep you mentally and emotionally safe if you stay locked up in this prison. If you want to go somewhere at any time, just let me know and I'll be right by your side doing my job. I'm a bodyguard, not a prison guard," I said, giving the boy a small comforting smile. He beamed up at me and turned back to the paper, grabbing a pen. After signing in the correct places, he handed the paper back to me before showing me to the door. As I made it back to my room, he softly called out, "Be up at 7, we're going to school tomorrow."
Adrien's Pov
After I shut my door, I hurriedly changed into my pyjamas, a smile spreading across my face as I reflected on the last fifteen minutes. I had a feeling that those moments were going to change my life forever. When I first opened my bedroom door I was expecting Nathalie. Not some handsome, well-chiselled boy towering over me, his shoulder-length snow-white hair braided. In snug black button-up shirt paired with dark denim jeans. A utility belt adorned with various blades and gadgets hinted at mysteries I was eager to uncover.
What I was most definitely not expecting him to give me a contract stating that he worked for me, not my father, me! Then to tell me I could basically go where I wanted. As I lay under the sheets I couldn't help being excited, I was going to school tomorrow, for the first time. Then I dozed off to sleep.
I vaguely heard a quiet knock coming from the door. I groaned, rolled over, and buried myself under the covers. Then, I heard a chuckle from the doorway.
"Then I guess you don't want to go to school today, Mr. Agreste," chuckled the deep, smooth voice.
Startled, I jumped out of bed, dashed to my closet, threw on my usual outfit, and sprinted to the door. As I pulled it open, I ran my fingers through my hair to neaten it up..
Kairo stood there dressed in a plain white tee and camo cargo pants, with a black hoodie tied around his waist. He held breakfast in his hands, I stepped back to hold the door open for him to enter. Walking past me, he placed the dish on the table in front of the lounge. As I sat down to eat, he wandered around the room. "So Mr. Agreste..."
I quickly cut him off. "Adrien."
"Hm?" He looked at me, confused, his head tilted to the side like a puppy. It was cute.
"My name is Adrien. Mr. Agreste is my father. Unless you prefer to address me formally," I rushed to correct myself.
"Calm down, it's no issue, Adrien. You may call me Kairo," he replied smoothly. "Now, as I was going to say, we need to get to school a little early to speak with the principal about my presence. So, if you'd like to finish getting ready, I'll be waiting outside in the hall." With a slight bow, he walked out.
After I finished getting ready, we snuck out on foot, a move that would undoubtedly displease my father. As expected, we were caught, but fortunately, Nathalie and the new driver didn't catch up to us until we were right outside the school.
"Adrien, please reconsider! You know what your father wants!" Nathalie called out, her tone pleading, before turning to Kairo. "And you could get fired for this," she warned him.
Kairo smirked but remained silent, standing steadfastly by my side.
"This is what I want do," I told her, noticing an old man who had clearly fallen over, and my guard had spotted him too. We both rushed to help him, and I returned his walking stick while Kairo assisted him to stand. "Thank you both," he said gratefully.
I glanced back to see Nathalie and the driver shaking their heads disapprovingly. A strong, gentle hand landed on my shoulder. "What do you want to do?" asked a deep, soothing voice.
"I'm not going to fight," I muttered in response, before walking over to them. "I just want to go to school like everybody else. What's so wrong with that? Please don't tell my father about all this," I said sadly, before heading towards the car.
Kairo's Pov
After a long car ride in stiff awkward silence. We were back at the mansion. I stood guard by a door with Adrien, while Nathalie discussed French history with him. Adrien looked incredibly sad, and I knew I had to talk to his father about it. Just then, Gabriel Agreste appeared.
"Think of the devil and he shall appear," I thought bitterly, not budging from my position just inside the door.
"Give me a minute, would you, Nathalie?" he said.
"Yes, sir," she replied, then hurried past me and out the door.
"You as well," Gabriel said to me, his son watching in confusion as I stood unmoving. Gabriel turned to me, clearly angry that I hadn't obeyed his order, but I held my ground and stared right back.
"Speak to your son or don't, but I will not move on your command," I told him firmly.
Still angry the man turned back to his son "You are NOT going to school. I already told you" the man said his voice full of authority and demand. Adrien looked over to me and gave him a small nod of confidence. "But father.." he tried "Everything you need is right here where I can keep an eye on you. I will not have you outside in that dangerous world." the man cut off his son "It's not dangerous, Father. I'm always stuck in here by myself. Why can't I go to school and make friends just like everyone else?" Adrien said back jumping up with his fists on the table. "Because you are not like everyone else! You are my son! Continue." The man growled before storming and being replaced by Nathalie.
"We can leave it there for today if you have.." the woman said only to be cut off by the blonde dashing past her up to his room. Instead of following I stalked after Gabriel Agreste "Sir" I called he turned to me "What?" he replied as I walked up the steps to him.
"I understand you're only protecting him, and I understand more than most what it's like to lose someone you love and never want to feel that way again. But, sir, you can't protect him from death, and you definitely can't protect him from his own mind. Loneliness itself can be deadly, sir. Yes, it's a dangerous world but I can protect him, that is what I was hired for. You don't have to listen, but please reconsider," I said before walking to Adrien's room. I stood outside the door and gently knocked.
"Go away," came the muffled voice from inside the room.
"I'll be in my room if you need me," I said calmly, not moving until he groaned in response.
Suddenly, I heard loud thuds and felt the ground shake. I sprinted to the front door and found police barricades. There, stomping down the street, was a massive stone golem. Adrien appeared next to me, his eyes red from crying. The police fired and the golem only grew. I rushed Adrien back to his room before I quickly headed to mine which was smaller but not by much and turned on the tv. "As incredible as it seems, it's been confirmed that Paris is indeed being attacked by a supervillain. The police have been struggling to keep the situation under control" spoke the newswoman.
I glanced down and noticed a small red and black box, which definitely hadn't been there earlier. "What is this doing here?" I muttered, carefully picking it up. As I opened the box, a blinding white light shot out, followed by a small floating creature-a light grey wolf-rat?
Quickly grabbing one of my blades, I stared at the wolf-rat as it opened a pair of ice-blue eyes, not unlike my own. "If that makes you feel safer, pup," it said, gesturing towards my blade.
"What are you?" I asked menacingly.
"I am Lupus, the Kwami of loyalty. I give you superhuman abilities to protect the people," the wolf-rat replied.
"How?" I asked skeptically.
"You put on the choker that's in the box and say my phrase to transform into a superhero. Once transformed, you can use an ability called Conceal, which lasts for five minutes. To deactivate it early, just say Reveal. After using your ability, the choker will start to beep. You then have five minutes before you transform back into your civilian form. You are part of a superhero trio; the other heroes are the black cat of destruction and the ladybug of creation," Lupus explained.
I nodded and reached out to put the choker on.
"Now, to transform, you say 'Full moon,' and to change back, you say 'New moon.' Just a heads up, I won't be able to communicate with you once you're transformed. Oh, and remember, you can't tell anyone about this. Good luck, Pup," Lupus said.
"Ok, Lupus, Full moon!" I called out. At once, the Kwami was sucked into the choker. which had transformed from black to light grey with a black pendant in the middle adorned with five golden wolf teeth. I ran my hand over my eyes, and a light grey mask materialized, making my ice blue eyes stand out. I then ran my hands through my hair, causing it to grow about two inches as the braids disappeared, and two white fluffy wolf ears popped up.
I stretched, and my arms were now covered in light grey spandex with black wrist guards. The spandex wrapped around my torso, leaving a harness of weapons on my back. It continued down my waist and legs, ending in black feet. To complete the look, matching the soft white ears, was an equally soft white tail and a warm, fluffy fur coat that appeared over the suit.
The moment the transformation finished, I noticed my heightened senses. I could hear cars driving past, and my nose was overwhelmed by the array of scents around me. After adjusting to the sensory overload, I opened the window and leaped out.
After jumping from rooftop to rooftop for a while, I spotted the other two superheroes a bit tied up. Without making a sound, I leaped down from the rooftop and walked over to where they were hanging, unnoticed.
"How's it hanging, you two? Looks like you're a little tied up," I said casually, leaning against a nearby pole.
The cat boy jumped down first, followed by the bug girl.
"So I guess you two are the partners my Kwami told me about. I'm... Cat Noir. Yeah, Cat Noir," he said.
"Well, Chat Noir, I'm Silver Wolf," I replied, walking up to the black cat hero. I stuck out my hand, and when he grasped it for a handshake, I twisted my wrist before bowing slightly, giving the back of his hand a gentle kiss.
"It's a pleasure to meet you," I said, straightening up to see a blush under his mask.
Turning to the girl, I held out my hand again, this time giving her a firm handshake.
"And you are?" I asked politely.
"I'm Ma... err... Mar... uhh..." she stuttered, pulling on her yoyo which seemed to appear out of nowhere. It accidentally hit Cat Noir on the head, nearly causing me to growl in surprise at my own defensive reaction. I had just met the guy; why was I feeling so protective?
"Madly Clumsy. I'm so clumsy," the girl finished sadly.
"No sweat, Clumsy Girl. I'm learning the ropes too," Cat said reassuringly.
"Yeah, me too. You just need more practice," I added, trying to encourage her, though encouragement wasn't my strong suit.
Just then, the ground shook, and a nearby building came crashing down. As if we were thinking the same thing, Cat Noir and I both took a run-up and leaped onto the rooftops.
"Hey! Where are you two going?" the girl called from the ground.
"To save Paris, right?" Cat called back, and I nodded in agreement..
We made it to the sporting field just in time to see the stone golem about to grab a boy. Cat Noir blocked its path with his staff, and we both jumped down. I took a defensive stance, drawing the crescent blades from my back. As I prepared, I glanced over to see Cat Noir standing confidently, his staff resting over his shoulder and hand on his hip.
"Hey, it's not very nice to pick on people smaller than you," Cat taunted, diverting the golem's attention as the boy ran away.
"I guess you're talking about yourselves," the golem growled, swinging at us. We dodged the attack. Engaging in a back-and-forth power struggle for about a minute. Until the golem made another aggressive move, which left Cat with an opening.
Just as the stone fist slammed into the ground, Cat Noir leaped up and over, striking the golem's back. Gracefully flipping back down to the ground beside me. As he landed, we both noticed the golem only grew larger from Cat's attack.
"Okay, where's our partner?" Cat asked, taking a defensive stance.
We continued to dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge the giant stone attacks. We ducked as the goal net was thrown at us, but then we saw it heading straight towards a girl who was recording nearby. We froze for a moment, unsure what to do, until Cat Noir swiftly threw his staff. It extended just in time, positioning itself right above the girl's head, protecting her as the net bounced harmlessly off the staff.
Taking a moment to celebrate his achievement, neither of us noticed the golem until we were caught tightly in its grip. We struggled to wiggle free, both realizing just how close we were. Fortunately, we were distracted by the girl from earlier.
"What are you waiting for, Super Red Bug? The world is watching you!" she called out to our other partner, who was standing somewhere behind the golem. After a moment of tense silence, all I could hear with my heightened senses was the breathing and heartbeat of the cat hero pressed against me.
Just then, a red blur slid underneath the golem.
"Animal cruelty? How shameful!" she called out before pulling on her yoyo, sending the golem crashing to the ground and us rolling into the goal.
"Sorry it took so long, Cat Noir, Silver Wolf," she said.
"It's cool, Wonderbug. Now, let's kick his rocky behind," Cat said, cracking his knuckles and preparing to charge. I gently grabbed his tail to stop him.
"Wait, kitten. Haven't you noticed? He gets bigger and stronger with every attack," I pointed out, releasing his tail and noticing his blush as he soothingly patted it.
"We have to do something different," the girl, now dubbed as Red, added.
"Different how?" I asked, feeling uncertain about how to defeat a giant stone golem that only grew stronger with each blow.
"Uhhh... I don't know," said Red, unhelpfully.
"Okay then, let's use our powers. Cataclysm!" Cat Noir called out, activating his power. "Apparently, I destroy whatever I touch," he bragged a little.
"I don't need a superpower to destroy everything," Red muttered under her breath.
Cat turned and placed his hand on the goal post, turning the entire net to dust. "Cool. It's just you and me now! Time to rumble, soon-to-be rubble!" Cat called out excitedly.
"Cat Noir! Wait!" Red called out, but it was too late. "He'll learn," I said, patting Red on the shoulder. Cat leaped forward and placed his hand on the golem's body, but to no effect. He tried twice more before realizing something.
"Uh-oh. I guess I only get one shot to use my power," he said sheepishly, just before being kicked all the way back to where we were.
"Silly kitty," I chuckled, giving him a hand up.
"And you only have five minutes before you transform back. Didn't your Kwami explain anything to you?" Red asked with her hands on her hips. "I guess I was a little excited about my new life." Cat explained "Well, up to you and me now Silver Wolf. Lucky Charm!" she called and ended up with a red and black suit in her hands.
"Superpower?" Cat asked confused, I was confused too, and then both of them turned to me waiting "Conceal" I muttered before disappearing "Oh now that's cool where are you?" Cat asked in response I crept up and whispered in his ear "Right here Kitty Cat" "Cool" he stuttered and blushed.
"My Kwami told me I have to break the object where the whatcha ma-call-it... er, the Akuma is hiding." she corrected herself "Well, he's made entirely out of stone." Cat said looking over at the stone golem following the other's glaze I noticed something "His right hand, is still closed. He never opens it." I said, shocking the two since they couldn't see me, "It's like the Russian dolls. The object isn't on him, it's hidden in his fist!" Red added catching on "So what's the plan?" Cat asked.
"Hmm," she muttered, looking around. "This!" she called out suddenly, which unsettled me. In my experience, if you had a plan, you shared it with the group; if not, people got hurt. But before I could argue, she swiftly grabbed the hose at our feet, tying it to the suit and then wrapping her yoyo around Cat's feet.
"Don't resist. Trust me," she said firmly, spinning him around and sending him flying towards the golem.
"This girl's crazy!" Cat yelled as he hurtled towards the golem and was caught in its fist. "Oh, Red and I are definitely having a chat after this," I thought angrily.
"Catch me if you can!" Red yelled, hurling herself at the golem, which promptly dropped a purple object to catch her. "And now... Silver Wolf, the tap!" she called out.
I dashed over and turned on the tap. Water surged into the suit, causing the golem to drop Red. She hurriedly grabbed the object and broke it, causing the Akuma to fly away. As a result, both Cat and a random boy fell.
As I watched Cat fall, I sprinted as fast as I could, managing to catch him just in time. "Reveal." I muttered. As the transformation lifted, I looked down into a pair of gorgeous emerald green eyes. They seemed incredibly familiar, though I couldn't quite place where I'd seen them before.
"Mhm," Cat cleared his throat, looking embarrassed as I gently placed him back on his feet.
"You were incredible, Silver, and miss... uh... Bug Lady. You did it!" Chat cheered, which caused me to frown.
"No, Chat, we all did it," I said, with Red nodding in agreement. Chat smiled, and together we fist bumped and called out, "Pound it!" Then, his ring started beeping.
"You should get going. Our identities must remain secret," Red said. Chat Noir nodded, but just before he ran off, I grabbed his hand, like I had when we first met, and placed a gentle kiss on the back of his hand.
"Farewell, Kitten. Let's do this again soon, okay?" I said softly. Chat nodded happily and then disappeared.
While Ladybug was speaking with the other boy the recorder girl walked over "Uncanny, amazing, spectacular! Are you gonna be protecting Paris from now on? How did you get your powers? Did you get stung by a radioactive Ladybug? Oh, I've got a ton of questions to ask you, uh, miss... uhh..." the girl finally paused only because she didn't know the heroine's name "Uhh... Ladybug! Call me Ladybug" Red said as we ran off before Red disappeared though.
"Hey Red, before you rush off-yes, I know we don't have long-look, we did great today, but you need to keep us in the loop too," I called out.
"Hm?" she tilted her head, confused.
"We need to know your plans. Everything happens fast in a fight, it has to be that way. But we're a team now, and to keep all of us safe, we need to be on the same page," I explained earnestly.
She smiled and nodded in understanding before we both went our separate ways..
Adrien's Pov
I was sitting on my couch about to eat dinner watching the news. Kairo had just left with the chief after asking if I'd like company for the meal. I declined, telling him maybe next time, because I had a few questions for Plagg that he couldn't know about. "I am pleased to announce that we will organize a huge celebration in honour of our city's new protectors. Ladybug, Cat Noir, and Silver Wolf" the mayor addressed "Silver Wolf... do you think he'll mind if I call him Silver or Wolfie?" I asked Plagg feeling gid
"Nope, I didn't realize you swung that way, kid," Plagg said back before picking up the first dish. "Eww, what is this?" Plagg asked poking at an ice cream Sunday "Seriously? My personal chef made all this!" I defended "If you expect me to get my energy back after the transformation, I need to eat something more... delicate!" he said back knocking the Sunday off the table. "ok what do you want" I sighed
"Camembert cheese. Fantastic. All he eats is Camembert, which means I'm going to smell like stinky old cheese." I groaned when something interesting came on the news. "These victims transformed into stone beings are still like statues. The police are perplexed as to what will happen to them. Will they come back to life or be frozen in time forever?" the newswoman said.
"Plagg? What's going on? I thought we defeated him." I asked confused "Did you capture the akuma?" he asked turning to look at me. After explaining akumas to me I asked "Silver and I can't do anything without Ladybug?" I asked, "Only Ladybug can capture akumas and repair damage caused by supervillains." Plagg replied as I sat back on the couch with a sigh "I guess I'll be seeing you sooner than expected Silver Wolf."
