Background
I have changed your cliche shifters, and I wanted to give you some background on where my mind has gone with this and give you definitions.
Subcinctus - Latin for Shifter
Bestia - Latin for Beast
Vir - Latin for Man
Bestia Subcinctus - a animal who shifts into a human.
Vir Subcinctus - a human who shifts into a animal.
Bestia Subcinctus: They do everything mostly as an animal from where they live to the way they raise their young. They follow their instincts and never doubt them.
Aging is different for them as well and for each different type of animal. For example take a Bestia Wolf Subcinctus, they age like your regular wolf. By six months they're old enough to hunt with the pack. By the time they're two, they're full grown adults.
Once they hit adult hood, like all Subcinctus, the aging process slows down to an incredibly slow pace, allowing them to live for centuries.
It is often you will see them in their human forms when in human populated areas or in Temples, but they tend not to be the friendliest in that form because to them it is unnatural and uncomfortable.
Vir Subcinctus: They do everything as human. They own homes and businesses, go to schools, and do other things like humans do. They also age like humans and at the age of eighteen they're able to shift into their animal form. Once they hit the age of eighteen, the aging process slows down for them as well.
When Vir Subcinctus shift into their animal forms, they don't do it for long because many find it repulsing, seeing those who like to be in their animal forms too long to be disgusting like the Bestias.
They tend to see themselves as the superior species because of their human hearts and minds while the Bestia are flea ridden mongrels.
Temples: Are places of sanctuary for all. They protect demons, vampires, the Subcinctus, humans who know of the supernatural world, etc. They're scattered all over the world. Once a person comes to a Temple, they must follow the Temple's rules. No fighting, harming, killing, and abuse of power while on Temple property. They cater to all species and are never allowed to turn someone away unless that person has broken Temple rules. If you break Temple rules you are at the mercy of the Temple owners. Some owners have killed the rule breaker depending the rule broken, so it's best not to piss them off.
Mates: Both species of Subcinctus struggle to find their mates. The reason for that is because the world is so vast with a large population. Because finding your mate is hard, many marry and have children. When you do meet your mate though it is tradition for the female to live with her mate for two months as they court each other, getting to know one another. If it isn't going to work out then they part ways to pick up where their lives left off.
As an unwritten rule among them a Vir and Bestia never have sex with each other for a few reasons besides their differences. If they are mates and have children there is a large number of possibilities that can happen. Their child may be birthed as one of the species but change into the opposite once they're able to shift at adulthood. It is also because Bestia prefer to be in their animal forms, rarely ever changing into their human form to have sex.
Rogues: Rogues do not exist. It is common practice for wolf Subcinctus and lion Subcinctus to stay together, but for other species they break from their parents to do their own thing. It is also not uncommon for species that don't usually group together like bear Subcinctus and many of the different bird Subcinctus, to be living in a community together. There is no hatred or disgust towards a Subcinctus who wants to try and make it on their own.
Territories: The only ones who have territories are the Bestia and they're claim is close to their homes which tends to be only a couple of acres all around. Their usual hunting grounds aren't consider their territory. They will kill on sight if anyone trespasses, especially if they have pregnant females.
Special abilities: All Subcinctus have enhanced senses, super human strength, and are as fast as a bullet. Each Subcinctus also has a special ability that is unique to them, and abilities are not passed down through bloodline. If someone has the ability as another family member, its merely coincidence.
