💚Chapter 1: The Veil of Shadows💚

The castle was alive with excitement, every corner of Hogwarts buzzing with anticipation for the big Slytherin vs. Gryffindor Quidditch match. Chiara stood in front of the full-length mirror in her temporary quarters, her heart racing as she fastened the clasp of her black, hooded cape. The fabric was soft but heavy, draping around her shoulders and falling just below her knees. The hood was deep enough to cast a shadow over her face, concealing her identity from the curious eyes that would surely be searching for her.

Tomorrow would be her first official day at Hogwarts, but today, she had to stay hidden. Only a select few knew who she really was—the long-lost daughter of Salazar Slytherin, newly arrived at the school under the guise of secrecy. The weight of her lineage was something she was still coming to terms with, and for now, it was safer for her to remain in the shadows.

Chiara pulled the hood over her head, her reflection in the mirror obscured by darkness. It was strange, the way the cape seemed to transform her, making her feel both protected and isolated at the same time. She couldn’t let anyone know she was here, not yet. Her presence had to be revealed at the right moment, and until then, she would watch from the sidelines.

She took a deep breath, her thoughts turning to Mattheo. Her fiancé. The word still felt foreign to her, even though it had been months since they were betrothed. He was out on the Quidditch pitch right now, probably leading the Slytherin team through last-minute strategies. Mattheo Riddle—son of Voldemort, heir to a dark legacy, and the only person who knew the truth about her.

She’d never seen him play before, but she had heard the stories. Mattheo was fierce, relentless on the field, a natural leader. Today, he would need all those qualities and more. The Gryffindor team was strong this year, and the rivalry between the two houses had never been more intense.

A soft knock on the door interrupted her thoughts. Chiara turned, her hand instinctively moving to the clasp of her cape. "Come in," she called softly.

The door opened, revealing a tall figure clad in green and silver—Mattheo. His Quidditch robes clung to his lean frame, and his dark hair was tousled from the wind outside. He looked every bit the powerful wizard he was destined to be, but his eyes softened when they met hers.

"Are you ready?" he asked, his voice low and steady.

Chiara nodded, her heart fluttering as he stepped closer. "As ready as I’ll ever be," she replied. "Are you sure it’s safe for me to be out there?"

Mattheo reached out, gently pulling the hood further over her face. "No one will recognize you," he assured her. "You’ll be just another face in the crowd, and I’ll be too busy wiping the pitch with Gryffindor to worry about anyone noticing."

She couldn’t help but smile at his confidence. "Just… be careful, okay?" she murmured, her hand brushing against his as she adjusted the clasp of her cape.

He caught her hand, squeezing it lightly. "Always. I promise, after today, we’ll start our lives here together properly. But for now, just watch me win this for you."

Chiara nodded, feeling a surge of warmth despite the cold stone walls around her. "I’ll be watching," she said softly.

With one last look, Mattheo turned and left, leaving her alone in the room once more. Chiara exhaled slowly, gathering her thoughts. Today, she would remain hidden, but soon, the world would know who she truly was.

She pulled the hood tighter around her face, took one final glance in the mirror, and then stepped out into the corridor, ready to witness the beginning of a new chapter in her life from the safety of the shadows.
