Prologue
Michael Wydock’s
SILENT HILL
The Final Assumption
Michael lies on the floor bleeding out in the decayed room of 302.A demon, the very same demon whom he believed to be his guardian angel towers over him, watching.A demon of dreams and nightmares. It goes over to the window and looks outside as Michael’s wounds started to close up.He slowly picks himself up as the demon looks back at him.He stares at the demon holding onto his arm as if he was still hurt. The demon points as the door behind Michael slowly swings open.Michael stares back at the now opened door and then back at the demon. It was clear to him now.He didn’t return to South Ashfield. He was still in Silent Hill. And that woman that stabbed him, that was not Katie.Katie would never do such a horrible act, at least not to the man she was about to marry.
The demon watches as Michael slowly makes his way to the opened door.He entered into the hallway as the door to his room shuts and locks itself behind him.Michael stares into the endless hallway as if it had gotten even longer then before. He took a few steps before he heard an unsettling screeching sound, what sounded like metal. He turns to look behind him as he see’s the monster with the red pyramid shaped helmet come out of the darkness. It was ‘him’, the same monster that Trenton had met, Xuchilbara. But to Michael, this was a new monster unlike anything he ever saw before.
Unarmed, he started to run for it with the monster slowly chasing him, dragging that huge knife behind him.He ran and ran through the darkness as the lights around him turned into a blood red hue.An elevator opens up to him as he gets into it.The doors close behind him before the monster could even get to him.The elevator starts to go down, taking him to god knows where.Maybe to hell he thought. But to him, he felt like he was already there. The elevator went down and down into eternal darkness. It seemed like it would never end.
Michael leaned his back against the wall with his arms crossed and one leg on the wall.At last, the elevator had stopped. He could feel water at his feet, like the elevator had stopped on a flooded floor. The doors opened up as pure darkness lies ahead.Michael turned on his flashlight as the light pierced through the darkness of that hallway. The only light source was his flashlight and inside of the elevator. He slowly steps out of the elevator as the doors close behind him.A few steps in and he hears that screeching sound again. He turns only to see that oversized knife cutting through the metal doors.
That monster, it chased him down here. The expression on Michael’s face was that of fear.He was terrified and he had the right to be so.This monster, there was no stopping it.It ripped a huge gaping hole in the doors as it stepped through it and stared Michael down.He felt frozen in place with his jaw hung opened.True terror was in his eyes. The monster then started to come towards him, dragging that huge knife.Michael turned and started to run.The monster was slow but also determined. Why it wanted to kill Michael is unknown. He saw the love of his life, Katie, through an opened door.He tries to reach out for her, but as she turns to face him with an expression of grief and despair, the door slams shut.
Michael pounds on the door, praying that she would open it.She was a safe haven for him, but the door would not open. The monster catches up with him as he see’s the monsters shadow floating on the door. It’s massive knife came down, but before it landed, he wakes up gasping. He wakes up in the abandoned building of Town Hall.He places his hand on his head.
“Another nightmare? When will these dreams end!?”
“They will never end as long as you’re here.”Michael turns only to see Trenton sitting there. He and Katie were trying to track him down for so long and he had finally been found. But Michael was still skeptical. Was this the ‘real’ Trenton or just another apparition, a phantasm?Michael pulls out his gun and points it at him.Trenton chuckles.
“You’re going to shoot me with an unloaded gun?”After thinking it through, Michael lowers his gun.
“It really is you.Your eyes don’t lie.”Trenton stands up.
“I told you this town can play tricks on you.”He lends out his hand to Michael.Michael grabs his arm as Trenton helps him up.Michael looks around but could not find her.
“Where’s Katie?I thought she would be here.”
“Katie? She never came back. The only person I saw was you.”
“We’ve got to find her.She could be in danger.”
“Have you seen what it’s like outside? These streets are swarming with monsters, even more so then before. The darkness isn’t going anywhere soon, it’s getting stronger.”
“Well I have to try to get to her.”Trenton leans his back against the wall.
“You really love her don’t you?Well, you won’t get far without these.”Trenton holds out boxes of ammunition.Michael gladly takes them as he loads his gun.
“Thanks.”He starts to leave but then Trenton notices something in his pocket.
“Wait!” He commanded.Michael turns back to him.
“That thing in your pocket. What is that?”Michael pulls out the strange triangular piece that he had found in that cave.
“You mean this thing?”Trenton immediately shot up and walks over to get a closer look.
“I know what this is.I’ve seen it before.”Trenton rushes back to the bookshelves to find a certain book that had the description of the piece in it.He sees the book and grabs it.He places the book on the table and opens it up.Michael walks over as Trenton flips through the pages.According to the book, the piece that Michael had was in fact a piece of something much more.
“It’s called the Flauros. It is a ‘cage of peace’.There a five pieces of it.According to legend, it is said that the Flauros is meant to contain and secure demonic power.I did some digging and found out that ‘The Order’ once used it to amplify and contain Alessa’s power within it.So I’m guessing that’s what Mephiuel did.Mephiuel wants to control the darkness, but with Alessa around he won’t be able to.So he obtained the Flauros somehow and used it to weaken her. After the job was done, he hid all the pieces so it wouldn’t be completed. That must be what she wants. That’s why she won’t let us leave.”
“I still don’t understand. Why does she need us?”
“Because she cannot touch it.The Flauros is protected by some sort of spell preventing Alessa from touching it.That’s why she needs us.She needs our help.We find the pieces, get Alessa to full power again and kill Mephiuel.”
“Great. So where are the other pieces?”Trenton shrugs.
“I don’t know. But if my theory is correct, that piece you are holding will lead us to the others.”Michael looks at the piece and then back at Trenton.
“Alright, let’s do this.First, we find Katie. Then we’ll find the other pieces.”
“Just let me grab my gear and we can go.”Their plan was set in stone.Michael and Trenton’s mission was set in motion. He grabbed all he could carry and headed out the door with Michael leading the march into the foggy depths.
