On Friendships and Disconnections
Alas! Friendship has boundaries —
Those which, perhaps, I shan’t contest.
But friend or foe, I cannot tell,
For why in thought I was not fit
To linger ever shortly there
When once in lifetime I was dear?
Perhaps, I bear in mind such thought
That which is now irrelevant;
Perhaps, I give too much a damn
On things I'd rather be without —
Now, see this unappealing show —
Forlorn and desolate.
