CHAPTER 1 - Vampires Invasion

A loud thud from outside startled everyone in the house. "What is that?" I peeped outside the window only to see about twenty of them. I sniffed the air, they were vampires.

At this point, I saw everyone scrambling around with panic and fear in their faces. We have been ambushed, our defences have been breached. The only way out now is to run to a hiding place and re-strategize.

We had only had wars over the years with wolves but now vampires. I took my bow, I was the best at shooting arrows in the pack but this time around we were talking about vampires who only died by sharp wooden sticks. Everyone hurriedly left the school hostel, and ran into a big van but a few of us got left behind. The driver seemed to be paranoid and drove off.

"Shit" I cursed beneath my breath.

The school campus was filled with students and I had a strong feeling, the vampires wouldn't want to cause a scene, so I hurriedly stayed within a crowd of human students who were campaigning for something I couldn't even understand. The human students were always campaigning for one need or the other. Werewolf students hardly ever got involved in any of their social events, we were secluded to ourselves and all stayed in our side of the campus which was closer to the forest opposite the school. It made it easy for the wolves to change and run out in the forest. I ran in the forest a few times to clear my head and forget about my uncle the Alpha, and my aunt. I would run so fast as none of the other wolves could ever catch up to me.

I had gotten so lost in my thoughts to realize the crowd were thinning out and we were barely ten of us now. I looked at the crowd and sniffed in the air, there was a vampire amongst us. A woman with her four kids got my attention as she started screaming at her kids and a few students and staffs gathered around her to assist them, I hurriedly joined them as I followed them to the exit of the school. Luckily, the van was still outside the school waiting for the few vampires who couldn't get in

I hopped in feeling a bit relieved as a few other werewolves followed suite. We sped off looking behind her backs but we didn't see any car follow us.

Nobody knew I was the next Alpha, everyone knew me by the name "Leith Silver" and not "Hedlund"

I was warned by my uncle to keep my identity a secret by a witch my grandma consulted a few years back. After my mom and dad gave their lives at the war, there has been unrest at the pack as the rumour of the prophecy of a child with unimaginable powers spread. Most people believed it to be me, and that's why I was raised like an ordinary werewolf with no privilege and no luxury. I lived in fear everyday of people finding out and killing me. Ever since I clocked 13, I lost contact with my uncle, the regent Alpha and all my family. It was best for me to stay away and live like a ghost. It was really hard a times especially during school holidays, Christmas, and all the family festive period, most especially the moon-wolf ceremony.

The moon-wolf ceremony was an amazing event where the werewolves celebrated the moon goddess and danced around under the full moon. They got drunk and partied all night under the full sky. It happened twice every year. I would always wonder what my family members would be doing on events like that. I celebrated the event with some of my school mates family, most of them know me as Leith Silver the orphan.

I was one of the best in my department, and very athletic. I was told I had the body of a Greek God by the ladies but shielded myself from any attention from the ladies or anyone to protect my identity. I couldn't afford to make anyone notice me. I stayed hidden.

We got to a nice and safe underground shelter. One of the werewolves made a call to the pack security nearby alerting them of the threat we had from the vampires and letting them know we were hiding in the closest underground. We stopped the van about ten miles before the shelter and removed all our clothes and tossed it in, while we took different leaves from the forest to mask our scents. We walked carefully cleaning up our footprint till we got to the shelter and laid low inside. We had been briefed on what to do if we were ambushed since there was always one war or other going on but never vampires. This was unusual, everyone was frightened.

We spent a few days in the shelter making no noise, eating quietly and whispering. I stayed vigilant and quiet as well. "Hey Leith, you don't look as frightened as the rest of us. You seem calm" Henry whispered passing me a can of beer. I opened the can carefully, not making any sounds as I replied him "trust me Henry, I am as nervous as hell right now, some of us don't know how to show emotions." He looked at me with a smile "it will be okay, it's been a few days and nobody knows where we are, if they knew, they would have been here by now." I looked at him with hope and a smile, sincerely hoping that was the case but no it wasn't at all the case.

A few minutes later we heard the shelter door yanked open and smelt the vampires. Before any of us could move or plan an attack, a few of them came in and swiftly killed most of us. The rest of us raised our hands up in defeat and were rounded up and taken outside. It was dark, I looked up to see a few more outside waiting with three black SUV's.

One of the guys walked up to us with a smirk on his face "I'll advise you to behave or you will be minced meat like the rest of your friends in there. Now I need to know who is Hedlund?" Hot sweat rushed down my spine as I heard the name, my body tensed and I started feeling a bit dizzy. He continued "he should be about your age by now, maybe sixteen or seventeen and I have heard a lot about him, our King needs him." He gave an awfully looking smile, I turned to look over to the rest of them and noticed one of them was a lady who had her eyes glued on me as if she could see through me. I turned my head in the opposite direction immediately. Stanley blurted out with anger in his eyes, his junior brother was one of the boys killed "The whole pack had been looking for Hedlund since he was born, after the demise of his parents, no one have seen him. Some say he is dead."

The vampire looked at him "it had better be the truth, I don tolerate being lied to." We were pulled into the SUV and packed together like sardine, just eight of us including me and Henry. As they drove so fast, my head was spinning. Henry threw up and passed out. The vampires were notoriously fast and cruel.

We got to their camp and as we got down from the car, it was almost dawn. We were tied up, separated and taken into dark rooms. I looked over to Henry and a few of others who seemed out of place, the fear of me not ever seeing any of the boys again washed over me but I shrugged the thought as I had to be strong for myself.

A few moments later, the female vampire came in. I wasn't surprised with the way she was looking at me at the shelter. She walked around and removed my shirt with one of her nails. "You have an amazing body, I must say." She looked at me with a fierce look. I bowed my head in fear. "My name is Vanessa, what is your name."

Fear gripped me, my throat was dry and I somehow couldn't let the words out. "Wolf you better talk, or you will be dead in a second." She walked over to the other side of the room. "I am Leith Silver." I shivered in fear hoping she didn't know anything about me. "You will be my slave, I will buy you and take you as my pet" she said this titling my head up as she smiled.

My hopes of ever seeing my family shattered before me. I thought of how an Alpha born was going to be a slave. Anger rose inside me, my nostrils flared up. She walked up to me noticing my new countenance and said "If you behave yourself, you will enjoy your stay with me wolf boy."
