Prologue
Lucio Ponce, Akira Holt's Interpretation
Lucio wasn't the biggest fan of flying. If there was a way to avoid it, Lucio would always choose the alternate. Here, that wasn't an option, he could barely drive across Argentina, so, driving across two continents wasn't the best choice. The constant thought of the pilot to co-pilot messing up on the smallest thing always lingered in his mind, and not in a good way. He had to wake up stupidly early if he wanted to catch his flight because it had to take off at midnight. Any time of day and they picked midnight.
Lucio made it to the plane just before it left the gate 5 minutes from then. He sat in Row 8, Seat A, a window seat. He seemed to have the three seats to himself before someone came on last minute and sat in the aisle seat in the same row. She was a girl who had long red hair with a unique kind of ribbon on it and wore a plain black hoodie. Lucio didn't mind her sitting there. When he did mind it if she were a talker and went on and on and on. But she wasn't, and she simply pulled a book out of her bag that she began reading. "Stephen King, eh? You got good taste," Lucio said in hopes of starting up a small conversation.
"Pardon?" She asked.
"I said, 'Stephen King, eh? You got good taste.'
"Oh! Yeah, he isn't too bad. I'm currently reading the original Shining. You know what they say, this story is usually better than the movie. This story is better than the movie. I'm Teresa Cesarz from Poland. I was in Toronto visiting my biological mother. What are you visiting for?" She asked with a warm smile.
"Lucio Ponce, here from Argentina, visiting an old high friend. I work as a news reporter for a news channel in Rosario."
"Ah, Argentina is a nice country. I believe this plane lands in Rosario. I also work as a nurse, so there's that," Teresa said, ending the conversation before returning to her book. She seemed friendly enough. A rare occurrence from all of his few flights in his life. After the brief conversation, Lucio put on his headphones and played some Lo-fi music. Unexpectedly, he fell asleep doing so. He was out for a good chunk of time before some turbulence woke him up.
"Morning, sleepyhead," Teresa said as Lucio removed his headphones. "Wha- how long was I sleeping for?" Lucio asked.
"Not long. All good, I'd do the same if I could." Lucio seemed to have awakened at the perfect time because it was then when the co-pilot said something over the intercom. "We are heading into some bad weather, so, we're going to experience severe turbulence," he said. Passengers began panicking, even though it was just turbulence. But, they may have been panicking about what was about to happen.
Things seemed to be under control when the plane entered the storm, other than the turbulence. That was until lighting struck the wing of the plane. An explosion was heard and the plane began spiralling out of the sky. The airbags came from the ceiling and the sound of screaming could be heard. Lucio didn't fear anything as he had a feeling something like this would happen the moment the pilot said, "Storm."
Lucio sat there with a straight face. Teresa was the first to see a parachute by an airplane door. She ran for it, somehow not hurting herself as the plane kept spinning. One other person saw her run for it and they ran after her. They pushed her out the door without realizing she already had it on. He got quite pissed and received the karma he deserves as he got sucked out the door and fell to his death. Seeing that, the passengers got even more panicked and the last thing Lucio heard were screams of terror as the plane crash-landed on a remote island, and the world around Lucio went dark.
