Chapter 1

Spencer

I never imagined my life would turn out the way that it has. The odds were very much stacked against me. I was all but abandoned when my family went to prison for some heinous things. They are monsters. You see, my name is Spencer (Spence to those closest to me)Yerger. My family is referred to as the Yerger Clan, and are all serving life sentences for murder, cannibalism, kidnapping, identity theft, and a slew of other offenses that pale in comparison to the more severe of the charges. I was often teased about my family and asked if I ate people too. I didn't. From a young age, my family would lure campers and hikers in from the local state park and then do their torture on them. I never partook in the human-based meats that were served at the family dinner table. I would steal packages of lunch meat from the local supermarket and hide it so I wouldn't starve. I ate a lot of vegetables and grains, but when it came to dinner with the family, I would always manage to duck out and go unnoticed.

The day the feds raided our property, I was 13 years old and hiding out in the woods because my father was on one of his drunken benders and I knew that the feds were coming. I knew because I was the one who made the call, supplied the agents with evidence, and told them where the remains were all buried. After all the yellow tape went up and the place was clear of every last Yerger, that is when Agent Quincy Sylvester spotted me in my wooded fort and approached me. He ended up getting clearance to become my foster parent. He was a great man, someone that I wanted to be like as a person. He never raised his voice, never talked to me like I was less than a person because of my family, and always supported my goals for my future. When I was 20 years old, Quincy was diagnosed with an aggressive form of colon cancer and died within a year of getting sick. I joined Black Sails MC shortly after his death, because I needed to belong to a family, and they provided exactly that.

Not long after joining, our club president met the love of his life, and she quickly became my dearest friend and probably the first best friend that I have ever had. She is a doctor, and from the time I met her, she started teaching me about it. She inspired me to go to medical school at 21, she helped in me navigate through courses and internships and I could not have made it without her. She is a family practice doctor, and took over the clinic in our small town. She has expanded over the years, and now there is a calling for me to come and practice with her, which is literally a dream come true for me because, well, she is fucking awesome and a badass. I went into pediatric medicine. I have interned with all of the top ranking pediatric surgeons, internists, general practice, pulmonologists, neurologists, oncologists, etc. If it had to do with learning how to care for children, I tried to get my foot in those doors and learn as much as I could.

I'm now 31 years old. My life has not been easy, but I am in a place now where I own my own home and car. I don't have student loan debts, thanks for Journey's connections in the big cities. Let's just say, if you read her story, then you will understand what I mean when I say that I took part in the same program she did to pay her way through college. I make a pretty good living at the clinic, and I also work on a rotation at the hospital in the city about an hour from Valleyview.

Being part of Black Sails MC has been great for me. They are my family. I earn my keep, so to speak, by going on runs with the guys in case anyone gets injured. I also help make sure the club girls stay healthy and on their birth control shots...can't have them getting knocked up as a ploy to trap a member into claiming them. I'm not married, have no kids of my own, but the value of the club girls is pretty high since they will do almost anything to keep all of the single members happy. I've got my favorites...Dana, Cherry, and Chloe. Chloe really wants to be my "old lady" but I'm just not interested in that right now, and not with her. I don't love her and I do feel that I need to at least have some emotional connection before I start saying 'I love you' to someone. I've never said those words to anyone before, and I'm not going to waste them on a club girl.

This is me, my story.
