"Steps Toward Forever" Chapter 1
Intro: A quiet, picturesque village surrounded by mountains. It’s autumn, and the leaves are golden brown. Jihoon, a city boy, has returned to the village where he spent his childhood summers. Soojin, the girl next door, still lives here, running a small tea shop her family owns. They were childhood friends but lost touch after Jihoon left for the city. Now, as adults, they cross paths again, but the distance between them is more than just physical.
[CHARACTERS]
Jihoon (Male, early 20s)
Soojin (Female, early 20s)
Scene 1: [Reunion at the Tea Shop]
The small bell above the tea shop door rings as Jihoon steps inside, brushing off the autumn leaves from his coat. He pauses, looking around the quaint shop. Soojin stands behind the counter, her back turned, organizing teacups.
Jihoon: (clears throat) Do you still make the same tea from all those years ago?
Soojin freezes, recognizing the voice instantly. Slowly, she turns around, her eyes widening when she sees him.
Soojin: Jihoon? I didn’t expect to see you back here.
Jihoon: I didn’t expect to come back either. But... life is funny like that, huh?
Soojin smiles faintly, but there’s an air of tension. She motions to the tables.
Soojin: Have a seat. I’ll make you some tea. Just like old times.
Jihoon takes a seat by the window, watching her as she moves around the shop. There’s a quiet familiarity, but it’s clear things have changed.
Scene 2: [A Walk Down Memory Lane]
Later that day, Jihoon and Soojin are walking along the old path they used to take as kids. The autumn leaves crunch beneath their feet.
Jihoon: This place hasn’t changed much.
Soojin: It rarely does. It’s just... quieter now.
Jihoon stops walking and looks at her.
Jihoon: You stayed. I always wondered why.
Soojin shrugs, avoiding his gaze.
Soojin: I guess I’ve always liked the quiet.
Jihoon: I thought you wanted to leave. You used to talk about seeing the world, remember? You were always the dreamer.
Soojin chuckles softly, but there’s a hint of sadness.
Soojin: Dreams change. Or sometimes, they just... fade.
There’s a pause as Jihoon processes her words. He feels a pang of guilt for leaving without keeping in touch.
Jihoon: I’m sorry, Soojin. For leaving. For not calling. I... I didn’t realize how much I’d miss this place. Or you.
Soojin stops walking and turns to face him.
Soojin: You don’t have to apologize. We were just kids back then. It’s... in the past.
Jihoon: But it doesn’t feel like it’s in the past. Not to me.
Soojin looks away, unsure how to respond. They stand in silence for a moment, the wind gently blowing through the trees.
