Interesting Premise, Some Unintentional/Uncomfortable Themes
"Disclaimer: please note that I DNF the series after this point so this is not a comprehensive review of the book. Bianka is a strong woman with a solid starting struggle that will bloom into a great character arc. It's also refreshing to see that she has a complex social life outside of the eventual male love interests. What made me set this novel down is the subtle cruelty/misogyny that is frequently expressed toward other women in the series. Women are often described as promiscuous and thus viewed in a very poor light. What made me put down the book was a very uncharitable description of a woman who was mated too young to an alpha too old for her. She's clearly a victim but the narrative is very cruel toward her. The only women portrayed in a positive light are those that allow their male mates to be close and touchy with the FMC even to the point of crossing societal intimacy boundaries established by the novel. In summary: I'm a reader that plotlines centered around fertility/breeding and those that involve polyamory. All things this story hints at. But the likely unintentional misogyny made my skin crawl: the main character can shine without the narrative needing to put all other women down. Edited the review to make it more concise."
