Chapter 1 - Lustful Thoughts

NOTE: This is book 7 in the “My Mafia Madness” Series. Please make sure you read books 1 - 6 before beginning this one.

The jet was about to land, and Alexa still hadn’t surfaced from the back room since Dante had left her there to rest several hours earlier.

Making his way towards the back room, Dante reached for the handle and slowly opened the door, expecting to see her awake.

However, when he peered inside the room, he noticed a figure splayed out across the bed.

Fast asleep.

Smiling, Dante then entered the room, making sure to close the door softly behind him.

Crossing the short distance to where the bed was, the Don sat himself down on the side of the bed and just sat there, staring down at his beautiful wife as she slept soundly.

Perhaps for the first time in a long time.

Maybe it was because of the memory loss that she was having such a good sleep.

Maybe not… who knew.

But it filled his heart with pride to see her like this.

So vulnerable and sweet all at the same time.

But as much as he wanted to just allow her to continue sleeping, he had come back here for a reason and needed to wake her for landing.

She needed to be seated in one of the seats with her seatbelt fastened, as per the staff protocols.

Reaching out his hand, the Don first tucked away a stray strand of her blonde hair behind her ear before then gently stroking her hair in an affectionate manner.

And luckily it was enough to wake her.

As she inhaled deeply, then opening her eyes and looking around, she noticed Dante sitting beside her and a smile immediately formed upon her face.

Noticing her smile, Dante suddenly wondered whether she had gotten her memory back.

Did she recognise him?

Was she back to normal again?

“Bella?” he questioned her, furrowing his brows inwards.

“Are you alright?”

“Yeah, I’m fine.” she replied, sitting herself up on the bed.

“I must have dozed off. How long was I out?”

Dante shrugged as he replied, “A couple of hours. Looks like you really needed the sleep.”

Alexa nodded her head, her smile widening.

“Yeah. You’re probably right.” she admitted.

“Come on, we need to get you seated for landing.” he announced, standing up.

She hurried herself off the bed and moved to a standing position beside him.

“Sorry, still new to all this travelling in a private jet stuff.” Alexa proclaimed with a chuckle.

There it was… proof that she hadn’t yet regained her memories.

Dante couldn’t lie, he had felt somewhat saddened by this but immediately brushed it aside and instead focused on being his usual self around her.

The truth was that Alexa would regain her memories… it was only a question of when would it happen.

“This way.” Dante announced, then leading her out of the room and back towards where the seats were located.

It was time for them to land.

They had made it back home to New York City.

After the jet had landed, Alexa was led down onto the tarmac where the usual convoy of black SUV’s were parked and waiting for their imminent arrival.

Dante and Alexa would, of course, travel in comfort in their own town car while the others would hop into their assigned SUV’s for the trip back to the mansion.

Including baby Alessandro in his baby car seat, seated right beside his Nanna, Amelia.

And within no time the convoy rolled off down the tarmac, the start of their journey now underway.

As soon as they arrived at the mansion, Dante took the liberty of personally showing Alexa up to their shared room where he merely intended on giving her a sneak peek.

A look at the place they had once shared lovingly.

He had no intention of forcing her to stay in the same room as him just because they were married.

Until she got her memory back, the Don would be a complete gentleman and give Alexa her space… as hard as it would be for him to try and resist her.

But he would do it, nevertheless.

Because he loved her more deeply than anyone.

Escorting her up towards the third floor, they finally arrived in the master bedroom and Alexa took a look around while Dante positioned their suitcases against the far wall.

“This is… sorry, it was our shared room.” he announced, smoothly correcting himself.

“I can only hope that, given time it will become that once again. But I want to assure you that I have no ill intentions whatsoever regarding you and your recovery process. You can take as long as you need for your memory to return comfortably. I will not rush it. You have my word.”

“I get this strange feeling that you’re a man of your word… somehow.” Alexa admitted, narrowing her eyes as she struggled to recall something that wasn’t quite there.

A memory lost and yet so close…

Dante on the other hand noticed this comment and help onto further hope that Alexa’s memories were indeed returning, and at a rapid rate.

“If you would like, you can take this room and I’ll take one of the guest rooms-” Dante began.

“-No, that wouldn’t be fair to you.” Alexa interjected.

Dante tilted his head off to the side as he spoke, “I insist. I want you to have the very best of everything, amora mio.”

Judging by Alexa’s expression, she wasn’t too sure about this idea.

“It just feels wrong. Me taking your room like this. It’s your room.” she began with concern.

Our room, bella.” Dante corrected.

“It’s as much yours as it is mine. And for that reason, I must insist that you stay here.”

He grabbed her suitcase and wheeled it over towards the bed, parking it right beside it.

“I’ll be in the room beside yours if you need anything.” he explained while grabbing his suitcase and making his way towards the door to leave.

“I’ll have someone come up to inform you when dinner is being served. Rest well.”

With that he then exited through the doorway and carefully closed the door behind him.

With only one week to figure out what they were going to do regarding their mission to end the Reaper’s life, Matteo and his second-in-command Viktor were having trouble coming up with suitable ideas.

“How about we use a bomb and deliver it to Romano Enterprises-” Viktor began suggesting, but Matteo quickly cut in over him.

“-That’s already been done…” the Don pointed out.

“But I do like your idea about using the family company as bait. Perhaps there’s something we can use within the company. An idea of some sort.”

Viktor thought for a moment, as did the Don.

“When’s the next shareholder’s meeting again?” Viktor asked.

“In a couple of days’ time.” Matteo replied.

“Why?”

“Why not do it then, while Dante’s out in the open? He’ll be amongst his company’s shareholders and unable to do anything too suspicious in retaliation. It’s perfect.” Viktor pointed out.

“We could have our men storm the place and disguise it as a terrorist attack. They might need to take everyone there captive to disguise our true intention but it’ll get the job done. We take the Reaper captive and torture the bastard to death. Sound good?”

Matteo had to hand it to Viktor, he had a solid idea.

One that they could handle between the two of them, without Prince Stephan’s assistance.

“Let’s do it.” Matteo finally announced, nodding his head with a sinister smirk.

“Let’s fuck up that meeting and end my brother once and for all.”

The remainder of the evening went as usual for Alexa, though she wasn’t yet familiar with the routines or the layout of the mansion.

Dinner was a delicious spread of roast chicken with a variety of vegetables and freshly baked bread rolls.

With enough food to feed an army served.

Alexa had her fill, having needed to eat for two.

And after dinner she and Dante made their way out onto one of the nearby patios to have a drink before retiring for the evening in their separate bedrooms.

The night sky was dark yet lit with countless stars shining brightly.

And the moon was whole, much larger than it had been in months as it floated amongst the stars.

The night air felt particularly cool, wafting over Alexa’s delicate skin as she came to sit in one of the patio chairs.

“It’s beautiful out here, isn’t it?” Dante began their conversation with an obvious question while pouring himself a scotch on the rocks, his signature drink.

“Very.” Alexa agreed with a smile.

“What would you like to drink?” he asked, turning to glance at her in question.

“Um… what would I normally have?” she asked.

Dante thought for a moment before replying.

“Depends on the occasion, but may I suggest a white wine? It goes quite nicely after dinner.” he explained.

Alexa nodded as she replied, “Sure. Sounds good.”

Pouring her drink, Dante then carried both glasses over to where she sat waiting and handed her the wine.

“Your wine.”

“Thank you, kind sir.” she remarked cleverly.

“Did we do this often?”

Dante frowned in question.

“Hmm, do what?”

“Come out here and relax underneath the stars.” she asked.

Dante chuckled to himself before responding.

“Sometimes. More often than not we’d choose to retire up to our room for…” he paused, apparently unable to add any more to his sentence out of sheer embarrassment.

“Well, let’s just say we would share time with one another.”

It took a moment for Alexa to catch onto what he was referring to, but when she did her cheeks instantly turned a shade of crimson.

“Oh… I see.” she mumbled softly.

“And would we ‘share time with one another’ quite often?”

Dante pursed his lips together firmly, unsure of what he should say in response to her.

“What do you think?” he finally replied.

Alexa took a moment to stare straight into his emerald-green eyes, intoxicatingly captivating for her to look at, even for a brief moment.

Her eyes then travelled down towards his lips and fixated on them hungrily.

She imagined what it would feel like to surprise him with a kiss, claiming his lips in a deep and intimate manner.

Alexa pictured herself kissing him, with the image so realistic that it had her second guessing whether she were really doing it right now or not.

Oh, how she wanted to do it.

For some unknown reason, she craved his lips and the feeling of his arms embracing her warmly.

The scent of his desirable cologne wafting into her nostrils as their kiss deepened…

‘Whoa, snap out of it, Alexa!’ she told herself, shaking her head.

Noticing her doing so, Dante frowned.

“Are you alright, bella?” he asked her.

“Me? Yes, I’m fine.” she replied with a forced smile.

Her cheeks were still flushed, evidence of her tantalising thoughts.

“I think I should go upstairs now. Get some sleep.” she suddenly announced, surprising him.

“Big day tomorrow. I want to be well rested.”

“Uh, but I…” Dante tried to convince her to stay, oblivious to her heated thoughts within that moment.

“Goodnight.” Alexa spoke whilst fleeing the patio and heading inside.

Within seconds she was gone, and Dante was left questioning what he had done wrong to perhaps chase her away.
