To be given a mate is a blessing, an honor bestowed upon us by the goddess of the moon which governs our world, and the changes of our bodies. You’ve already come of age for our species, so you’ve already experienced the change. Finding your mate is the next biggest life goal. It is a need, an animalistic ritual, the instinct to breed and further our species, but having a mate is a gift. The goddess chooses your mate based on compatibility, who you are most likely to fall in love with, and who you would make the best and strongest heirs with. To deny your chosen mate for another, is a crime against the moon.
