Synopsis
So long as there have been humans there have been others, and with this co-existence has come unions between us. The offspring of these many possible unions are collectively called ‘demi-human’. Half Human; Half Something Else.
These famous words penned by Benjamin Franklin are credited as the first use of the term used to refer to the previously unnamed collection of more-than-mere mortals known now as demihumans.
Having always been among humans they have shaped history throughout the world. Some famously remembered as heroes and kings. Some infamously remembered as criminals and outcasts. Many forgotten, lost in rank and file of workers and soldiers. As only one in a hundred of humanity are demihumans.
Often demihumans seek out a place in the world and often they find it among others like them. Ancient clans and secret cults were once the domain of these groups, but in the modern time cities have become the bastions of these collectives as the density of demihumans brings in more which grows the population.
The most famous is that of Progress City, built on the Potomac upriver from DC. It boasts a density of 15 percent of 8 million people to be demihumans. Here on the Virginian side of the city, we find the city’s public education facility, West Progress High, where we find the freshmen year of Class J.
Twenty-eight students, each just one story among hundreds. Twenty-eight students, each just trying to survive the trials of life. Twenty-eight students, each just living the best lives they can.
