This is the typical neurological science wording for the explanation of how euphoria happens as an experienced state - which you can find in any scientific journal or public science-based article on the matter. And, you will be able to find more or less these same words in that exact same order even in the Wikipedia entry on ‘euphoria.’
I have stressed the word ′every,′ though. This is important in order to make a fully functioning modern comprehension of what is contained in those extant ancient written texts of the practices of classical age civilisations’ mystical or secret cults. Frankly, the matter is not to do with drugs, or ancient chemistry, in spite of what a lot of modern authorities on the subject would like to say.
I have placed this first statement, this first sentence, and these opening paragraphs here, to make it abundantly clear to you what is necessary in order to attain the experiences, or that state in which such initiatory experiences, are to be had.

And thirdly, the way the human brain works, demands that there are ‘refractory’ phases between complex synchronous wave peaks. In other words, it is simply not useful in any practical sense, to truncate the proper entire linear process and yet still attain true euphoric states that open those natural faculties of the mind and in part at least, in the brain, which lead to higher level awareness and super-consciousness of the kind described in the ancient texts about the Delphic and Sibylline Oracle priestesses – of whom the ‘Mary’s’ of the Bible (New Testament) are factually uncontestably examples of; and this reality you can find attested to by leading modern ancient classical languages scholars such as Professor Carl Ruck of Boston University, and Dr Ammon Hillman.

In this Rome was partially successful as modern Christianity is in fact not the same as its earliest form and ‘canonical’ being distinct from actual extant writings and formally-held and practised ideas.
Of the actual mixture (or mixtures because there are several variants of the main idea) in any given Age of Man down throughout the whole of human history from the times of pre-history, there are only a handful of people who know what its composition is though, because the subject constitutes one of the key elements of the recorded history, at least, original source lethally-protected Eleusinian Mysteries, from where the entire ritual thing sprang.
