The So Called "God's" Ghost
Journal Entry
My name is Asia Rose. I was born in an unknown place. I never knew my mother, nor my father. It feels like I never had any parents, to begin with. I know that my first home was a facility with others that were like me. The doctors and nurses there were like mother figures and father figures to me. Those days are long gone now... It’s just me by myself. I’m able to see and sense things that are not normal.
It’s been like a gift, but also a curse that I’d rather not talk about much. I work at a diner serving people, and I write in this journal. I have a place of my own with my two pets: Angel, my dog, and Kianu my cat. I lead an ordinary life, but I think life has a plan for me that I’m going to find out soon.
In the morning, Asia wakes up hearing her alarm. She turns her alarm off and slowly gets out of her queen-sized bed. She walks to her window and sees the scenery of the city in the sunlight which makes her smile. She makes her bed, takes her work clothes with her to the bathroom, and turns on the tub’s faucet to take a shower. She steps inside feeling the warmth of the water on her body, making her stretch out and wake up more. After her shower, she looks at herself in the mirror.
“Another ordinary day.” She tells herself.
She then brushes her teeth, combs, and brushes her hair, and puts on her clothes. Since she had some time left, Asia goes downstairs where she is greeted by Angel, her Jack Russel terrier, and Kianu, her Domestic Long Hair cat.
“Hey, guys. You both hungry?” Asia asks.
She then gives them their food and takes some cereal out of the cupboard from her kitchen into a bowl with milk. She eats her cereal and gets a phone call; she answers.
“Hello?... Hey Nick... Yeah, I’m coming to work... I’ll be there. Something you need to tell me? Alright. My jacket’s on. I’m getting out the door... Bye.”
Asia puts on her jacket, puts her empty bowl in the kitchen sink, gets her keys, and looks at her pets.
“You two behave, okay? Don’t make a mess.”
Asia then opens the door to leave, locking it behind her.
She goes to her red SUV and begins to feel a presence, making her feel uneasy. She turns around and sees a figure of a man with sharp facial features, fair skin, dirty blonde hair, golden eyes, shirtless exposing his fit physique with a tribal tattoo, black pants, belt, and boots. He had a dark purple aura that surrounded him.
’Well, I was hoping to find you.’ The entity speaks. ’Do you know who I am?’
’Your name is Alexander Biniou.’ She responds telepathically. ’You were born in 1974. Once a very power hungry, manipulative man that met his end at the age of 35 by a gunshot wound to the chest by Kristopher Clay, the man that was hunting you down and one of the several people that you’ve wronged.’
The entity sternly looks at Asia.
’You also have a God complex, and even in death, you still think nobody is equal to you.’ She adds.
Alexander was impressed by the information Asia knew about him.
’Hm. So, you know about me, young Asia Rose. Impressive.’ He compliments.
’Well now is not the time to talk. I have to go.’
She gets into her car, drives out of the apartments parking lot and onto the road to her job.
Asia arrives at her job, Niecy’s Diner, parking her car in the diner’s parking lot and walks into the building toward a young man with black hair, oval glasses, and hazel eyes.
“Hey, Asia.” The man greets her.
“Hey, Nick.” She greets back putting on her apron. “Is there something you wanted to tell me?”
“Yes. I want you to work the night shift.”
“Why? What’s up?”
“Something came up with my wife and she wanted me to come home tonight.”
Asia smirks at his answer. “Hm. I wonder why… But sure. I’ll do your night shift.”
“Great! Thank you. I’m sure the boss will give you money for overtime. The night shift starts at 7:00 p.m. and ends at 10:00 p.m. If no one comes, you can punch out early.”
“Alright, but you owe me.”
Nick nodded in agreement and they both started working with their first customers of the day.
Three hours in, Asia starts writing down orders for her ninth table of the day and goes to the kitchen and gives it to the head cook. As she leaves the kitchen, she looks out the bay windows and sees the apparition of Alexander making eye contact with her.
′We must talk, Asia.′ He speaks telepathically.
′Not now!′ She telepathically replies to him and goes back to work.
When her break started, she decided to go to a restaurant called Phresh, two blocks away from the diner to eat. She goes inside, orders her food, and sits down at a table with her food in hand. As she began eating a sandwich, she then felt the same unease again. Alexander appears, sitting across from her.
’Do you think you’re really human, Ms. Rose?’ He asks.
Asia sighs in annoyance.
’If I talk like one, have emotions as one, go to the bathroom like one, then the result is: Yes. I’m human. No matter if I have this sixth sense.’ Asia replies telepathically. ’You are on the same spectrum as well. No matter if you have superhuman strength, you’re still human; not a god-- Oops, I forgot. You’re dead, aren’t you?’
Alexander became upset with her insult.
’How dare you say that—′
’Because you are-- well, were.’
Objects in the restaurant start to shake because of Alexander’s emotions.
’I deserve to have more respect than you are giving me! I. Am. A. God!’
Objects in the restaurant were thrown around making customers and employees leave. Asia does not humor this any further and decides to put a stop to his outburst as she sits in her seat.
’No, you’re just stubborn.’ She retorts. ’You are not a god, and you never will be! Your ambition is what got you killed, Alexander! You thought you could do better than your “father figure” could?! If so, you would’ve failed nonetheless!’
More objects were thrown at Asia all at once. Raising one of her hands, Asia stops every object that was moved, and with the drop of her hand, they drop to the floor. Alexander was stunned by what he saw from Asia.
’I hate using my powers sometimes, especially with ghosts like you, Alexander.’ She states irritatingly but trying to calm down. ’Those narcissistic and sociopathic tendencies just plague your soul, and they continue still.’
She stands up as she looks at him. ’Please, Alexander... accept who you really are. Realize your failures, accept them, so you can move on.’
Alexander looks down, realizing his actions when he was alive. Even though he had ambition to accomplish what he wanted, he used anybody that came into contact with him and dismissed them by discontinuing the partnership, or personally taking them out. He had a business, he had connections, he had power along with what he called a gift, inhuman strength, inhuman speed, and inhuman healing. He used everything at his disposal and could not afford to care about the people he harmed.
’Believe me or not,’ Asia continues. ’You don’t want to make me your enemy. I only wish to help out souls like you, be it good, or bad.’
Alexander chuckles.
’We’re not so different; you and I, Asia.’ He speaks looking at her.
’I know. Personality wise, we’re different. Being raised in a facility, truly the same.’
Asia moves every object in the restaurant back to its original place, goes up to the counter where a female server she had looked scared at what happened. Asia gives the server money for the food, and a tip, and leaves out the front door.
At 5:30 p.m., Asia arrives at her home. As she opens the door, her pets greet her, but Angel starts growling, and Kianu starts hissing at the entity entering her home.
“Calm down, the both of you. He’s cool.” Asia speaks to them assuring.
Hearing her words, the pets calm down and go to their areas in the house with Angel sitting in her dog bed and Kianu sitting in his cat tree. Asia changes Angel’s toilet mat, Kianu’s litter box, and puts them in a garbage bag ready to be taken out. She took that along with other trash bags outside in the nearing sunset with Alexander following her.
’Did you know that you have a son?’ Asia asks him.
’Yes.’ He replies. ’After my death, I learned that I did. He doesn’t think highly of me.’
’True.’
’If I knew he existed—′
’You would’ve done everything in your power to take care of him? Sure.’ She interrupts. ’Even though your ex knew what you were up to, she was still infatuated with you, but she wouldn’t have wanted him to end up like you.’
’Hm...’
’But your demeanor wasn’t like this earlier because you still had that “holier than thou” complex.’
Alexander was annoyed that Asia was bringing up his actions again, even though he understood.
’Yes, Asia... I know I wasn’t in my right mind until you brought it to light. So, for that... Thank you...’
For Alexander to say that it surprised Asia in a way. ’You’re welcome.’
At 6:30 p.m., Asia gets her work clothes on for the night shift. She then lights a candle she made within the time she was home out of black and gold wax, representing Alexander. Alexander sees this, becoming curious.
’What’s the candle for?’ He asks her.
’For you.’ She replies. ’Since you’re not planning on leaving me alone anytime soon and you have no plan to attack me anymore, you’re welcome into my home now. The candle will keep you in this plane and visible to me while you’re here. It will never melt.’
He nods his head understanding.
’But if you harm anyone, especially me or my pets, I’ll have no choice but to blow out the flame and you will be expelled out of my home and left to wander.’ She warns.
’I understand. I would never want to disrespect you in your home.’
’Then we’ll do just fine.’
Seeing it was time to go back to the diner, she packs her stuff for the night shift in a backpack, tells Angel and Kianu to behave while she is gone, and Alexander leaves with her out the door to her car.
She makes it back to the diner at 7:01p.m., parking and getting out of the car, and going into the building to work. Asia clocks clocking in, putting her belongings in her locker, and starts serving a couple of customers with Alexander observing her in one of the corners of the diner.
At 9:40 p.m., there were no more customers in the diner. While the cooks clean in the kitchen, Asia is cleaning up alone in the dining area and the back of the barista bar. Alexander appears at the front table.
‘You are a very interesting young woman, Asia.’ He compliments.
’How flattering.’ Asia responds. ’Why do you say that?’
Alexander smirks. ’You have a shine to you that does strike my interest.’
’Do I?’ She asks with a deadpan tone.
’Yes, but I’m unable to determine what it is.’
’I guess because I can call people out on their bullshit and still be cordial with them afterward?’
Alexander stares at Asia, looking at her face, her figure, her personality even intrigued him. Asia notices his emotion.
’Stop, Alexander.’ She speaks in a serious tone and blushes. ’Stop thinking of me like that.’
He chuckles at her reaction but suddenly becomes quiet wondering about something else. Asia notices once again as she puts on her jacket that she wrapped around her waist.
’What’s the matter?’ She asks.
’I need your help." He responds.
’My help. Again. With what?’
’Actually who. It’s someone that I know, and this person is somewhere she shouldn’t be. She has been through enough. She is a woman I took interest in—′
’But she didn’t want anything to do with you.’
’Right. Way back, she treated me like I was a brother to her. I was older than her by—′
’3 years.’
’…Yes. Even though she hated me when we got older, she was still the fragment of humanity that I have left.’
’What are you getting at, Biniou?’
He hesitates as he looks down at the counter. ’Help me get to her.’
Asia looks at him baffled. ’What’s her name?’
’Asani Esor. She’s... in a mental institution.’
’What? Why is she in a mental institution?’
’She’s had falling outs in her life. That’s all I know. I need you to help me get her out of there.’
“What?!” Asia yells aloud out of impulse, processing what she heard.
One of the cooks walks from the kitchen into the diner getting Asia’s attention.
“Hey, Asia. Are you alright?” the cook asks concerningly.
“Yeah, I’m alright, Martez.” She replies. “I saw something on my phone, that’s all.”
“Okay. Well, we’re done cleaning the kitchen. If you’re done, we can all leave together.”
“Yeah, I’m done. Let’s get out of here.”
Asia gets out of the diner with three of the cooks, locking the front doors, then gets into her car to drive home.
Asia arrives at her apartment at 10:35 p.m.. She gets inside and sees her pets sleeping in their areas. She goes upstairs to her room, puts her backpack down in her room, takes her jacket off and throws it on a chair, takes her shoes off and her clothes, wearing only a tank top and panty briefs. She lays on her bed, looking up at the ceiling. Alexander appears once more.
’You haven’t answered my question earlier.’ He speaks. ’Will you take her out of there?’
Asia looks over to him with an anxious face.
’I don’t think you are understanding the gravity of what you’re asking me to do!’ She speaks in a sleepy but uneasy voice. ’You’re asking me to break a woman out of an institution where there are doctors, nurses, and orderlies that are more than likely going to find me, call the cops and send me to jail! I know you’re used to going in headfirst in that type of situation, but I can’t do that. That is insane!’
’Listen! She doesn’t deserve to be there! She doesn’t need any more pain in her life! I know this is out of depth for you, but I can try to tamper with something over there. If you help me, I’ll help you. Please, Asia...’
Asia thinks about it, feeling sympathetic to his plea. ’Fine, I’ll do it. I’m free tomorrow, so I’ll do it.’
Alexander felt relief when Asia gave him that answer. ’...Thank you, Asia, and good night.’
Relieved, Alexander disappears, and Asia goes to sleep.
