Introduction

Dear Friend,

welcome to the Cadet Chronicles Countdown to the Solstice, my totally not-christmas-y way of counting down to Christmas/Midsummer. It works on both hemispheres because it alternates between happy and fluffy winter and summer stories featuring Adelie and friends. In case you’re discovering them for the very first time, here is a short overview of who is who and where ist what:

Characters:

Adelie Klaiber: Adelie is a 22-year-old student at Westerhaven Academy, studying Interstellar Conflict Management and Tactical Aeronautics. She comes from a wealthy and influential family on the planet Eden, the Klaiber Barons. She is a skilled pilot with a former racing career. She is in a relationship with Nate Havisham.

Nate Havisham: Nate is a fellow student at Westerhaven Academy and Adelie’s boyfriend and flying partner. He is studying Economics and Planetary Development. He is a skilled pilot and rugby player.

Leslie: Leslie is Adelie’s best friend and a nurse at Westerhaven Airbase Hospital. She is kind, compassionate, and supportive.

Ophelia: Ophelia is Adelie’s other best friend and a fellow student at Westerhaven Academy, studying Engineering. She is intelligent, resourceful, and has a great sense of humour.

Jake Barker: Jake is Nate’s best friend and wingman, and a rugby player. He is described as humorous and supportive.

Gerald “Haystack” MacLaren: Gerald is Adelie and Nate’s squadron mate and friend.

Salvatore, Henry and Enrique: They are Adelie’s bodyguards who blend in as Campus Security.

Logan: Logan is Adelie’s Chief of Security.

Places:

Eden: Eden is Adelie’s home planet and is ruled by a Baronial system.

Westerhaven: Westerhaven is a planet with a cool climate and is home to Westerhaven Academy and Westerhaven Airbase.

Westerhaven Academy: It is a prestigious military academy on the planet Westerhaven, known for its rigorous training program.

Westerhaven Airbase: A large airbase next to Westerhaven Academy.

Meadow Junction: Meadow Junction is a small town next to Westerhaven Airbase.

Star City Complex: Star City Complex is a residential area for USF personnel and their families. It offers housing, childcare, and various amenities.

Old Quarter: A historic district of Meadow Junction with old buildings repurposed by Westerhaven Academy.

Greenvale Park: Greenvale Park is the estate of the Klaiber Barons on Eden.

Lewiston: Lewiston is a major spaceport on Westerhaven.

Wild Sage Acres: A farmhouse outside of Meadow Junction, where Nate lives with Eddie, Bob and their dog Snoot

Echo Mountain Range: A mountain range on Westerhaven, home to various flora and fauna, Birchwood Grove and Adelie‘s little cabin
