Where are they?

Posters everywhere. Posters from hundreds of years ago when the children were drawn from a likeness to the colored photos of the twenty-first century. None of the children have ever been found. Not that people tried. Some parents even tied a red ribbon trailing down their legs to find out where they have been taken too. But some of the kids that had them disappeared, with the ribbons lying on top of their beds, teasing the parents.

Years later, they had figured out a pattern. Every ten years, five children have always been taken, never to see their friends and family again. Desperate, their friends and family put out posters with their faces on, putting a life-changing amount of money that they clearly didn’t have. But it’s good to dream sometimes, isn’t it?

Even with all the door locking, even with all the chants that the priests made a habit from, to stop the demons coming into their quaint, village. It never worked. Not in the long run. The kids were still taken and never to be seen again.

It was like they vanished, off the face of the earth, never to exist again.

Friday 13th June 2014...

Cops were on duty; nobody could sleep a wink. It was that time again, sometime that year, five children would be taken, away from their family, their friends. Not that the children had much clue what was going on. They only see the panicking and a few head-heated souls had this habit of sending those crazy antics onto steaming services. The majority had become viral hits.

A woman was just setting her twins to bed as she kissed them goodnight. “Goodnight my darlings.” she said.

“Goodnight.” they both answered as they fell sound asleep.

The woman then slowly shut the door as panic then set in. Her windows were barred, the doors were nailed shut. Even her computer was locked though that might not be relevant. She paced around her house, shaking as she did so. She hoped that it wasn’t any of the twins that were taken.

She then looked at the painting of Jesus as she then prayed, “Please, keep the twins safe.”

She then heard a thud. A scream. She then got out a shotgun as she then rushed to the twin’s bedroom. She knocked the door down as she scanned the room. There was one twin, asleep like an angel, cuddling his teddy bear.

But the other twin’s bed was empty. The covers were made. It was like she never slept there. She then shook the remaining twin up, making him jump.

“What is it?” he asked, rubbing his eyes as he then looked at his now frantic mother.

“Where is your sister?” She then asked.

“I dunno, asleep.” he answered as he then fell right back to sleep.

His mother then sighed as she then noticed that the window bars were gone, the air from the window was blowing into her face. Her heart was in her throat as she then rushed out of the house to the police station where four sets of parents were, all shouting at the cops. One mother was even shaking the chief of police, screaming abuse at him.

“I’m sorry,” her husband answered, “but can you please find our son, she’s frantic.”

There were a few cops trying to calm the parents down, trying to reassure them that they’d find them.

“Oh really,” one father said, “What about Sally Holmes, Greg Potter and countless others, did you find them? No!”

The overlapping of their voices then filled the police station as the chief of police then kicked them out as he then shouted,

“Please shut up, we’ll find them and all the others, I’m telling you this now. Why not you help us by leaving us the hell alone... thank you.”

He then slammed the door as the posters rushed around town. People started to read them as they then started to shiver. Another five children were taken and were added to the board of the missing.

Sienna Jones- aged 10

Mary Holiday- aged 9

Max Harpy- aged 12

Marly Jolly- aged 13

Sebastian German- aged 10

The board was getting full now. The townsfolk then shivered as they lay in their bed, haunted by what might be happening to these children. A few kids were asking questions their parents were too haunted to answer their darlings.

Every ten years, something like this happens and nobody can do anything to stop it. Every ten years, parents cry, the cops have five more kids to find. They have long since lost hope that they will find them alive. No trace of the kidnapper had ever been found.
