Chapter 1: "Odins beginning"

I awoke in a ditch like any normal weekend. My head was pounding and everything around me was fading to nothing. My face hurt and was dripping with blood. I knew I didn't feel well, but I didn't know why. I remembered small memories but not enough to know exactly what had happened. I mustered the courage to sit up, and I stared at the bright night sky. The air smelled of smoke and ash. I looked around and I was in the middle of a corn field. Small cuts and bruises were on my arms. I dusted myself up and began to walk. I pulled out my phone to check the time. It was 1 in the morning, and the last time I remembered was 8pm. My phone was cracked all the way down making it barely visible to read anything. The last text message I could make out was from my close friend Silas. It was a text reading "Odin something bad is happening where the hell are you?". I immediately tried to call him, but my phone had no service.

I was so confused, what has happened? Where am I? I picked a direction and began to walk. I had no idea where I was, and all around me was just corn stocks for miles. The strange thing I noticed was that there was no corn on the stocks. I picked a direction and started to walk. As I continued to walk, I started to think about what had happened just a few hours ago.

Why was I in the middle of a cornfield when I didn't live anywhere near fields like this. Maybe I just got too drunk to even remember that I got stranded here. How is that even possible? My thoughts were interrupted by the strange sound of movement coming from the path ahead. My heart immediately started racing as I stopped dead in my tracks. I listened so still and so quietly from what I was hearing, and now what I was seeing. It paralyzed me from the waste down. Footsteps and screams were coming from the fields in all directions. The air echoed so loud you could hear it for miles. It sounded as if someone was running for their life.

I looked around in all directions. feeling the goosebumps on my skin, realizing that my safety could be in danger. The ground beneath me was hard to describe. It felt sponge-like, almost as if it was alive. It was a strange color, and small mushroom-like plants grew on the path I walked. I kneeled down to touch the ground as the path felt strange, almost as if I had just touched jello. The colors of the mushrooms growing in the path were a purplish brown color along with the path, feeling like that of a dry desert. It seemed as if the ground could move at any minute. I felt like I was in a strange new world. Considering my circumstances, everything seemed unreal. I mustered up the courage to continue walking further into the fields.

Howls in the cornfield and shrieks of new sounds I'd never heard before. Immediately putting me on high alert. We're the fuck was I? I no longer felt like I was on Earth anymore. The sounds continued of footsteps racing through the fields as I saw the stocks moving back and forth from whatever force was moving them. Suddenly a man jumped out of the cornfield onto the path before me.

I stumbled backwards Internally screaming knowing I could be a dead man within minutes. He was very skinny and looked extremely malnourished. His skin was as pale as snow with red bumps covering his skin and his face was thrashed with bruises and missing teeth. His face was filled with panic and shell shock, and his eyes were those of someone who was yearning to sleep for even a second. He didn't even take his eyes off the field. I just sat up in complete shock watching this man, he hasn't even looked over? Trying to brainstorm an idea to fight, or run for dear life.

The strange man sat in the middle of the path rocking back and forth whispering to himself. His mouth was moving so fast as he whispered it looked unnatural as if he was being controlled. I began to move closer to him letting my curiosity get the best of me. I got back on my feet and slowly moved towards the man, as I approached, I finally spoke.

“Sir, are you okay? Trying to sound as confident as I could. He said nothing, just shaking and whispering to himself. I started to make out what little I could from his whispers. "The gods will punish the gods show no mercy" I looked at him and reached my hand out to help him up. He looked at me drooling and biting his tongue. I Felt a strange feeling as I waited for him to grab my hand. All of the sudden, he stopped drooling and smiling.

His eyes were not as wide as they once were. I started to see a person trapped behind the crazed man I was staring at. His face and lips were cracked from lack of hygiene and he reeked of death. He started to reach his hand out for mine, As his hand was about to touch mine, he finally said something in a whisper "kill me". I started to panic thinking about anything other than this creature in front of me and I thought of something to comfort me. Like a wave of otherworldly interference, something snapped in him. He started to change.
