In a small, tightly-knit werewolf pack, whispers of an illegal dog-fighting ring stir concern. The rumors become impossible to ignore when word spreads about a "wolf dog" being the star fighter-a creature of unmatched strength and ferocity. Koen, the pack's alpha, knows the stakes are too high to let such cruelty fester, especially when it threatens to expose their kind to human suspicion. But the truth behind the wolf dog is even darker: he's no ordinary canine but a rogue werewolf, trapped and forced into bloody battles he never chose. When Koen and his pack make their move to shut the operation down, he comes face-to-face with the wolf dog-and discovers his fated mate. As Koen fights to rescue his mate and dismantle the ring, the rogue struggles with the scars of his captivity and the bond he never expected to form.

Prolouge

The lights were blinding, casting harsh beams over the crowded arena. The sheer mass of people, all jostling to get a better view, created an oppressive heat. Voices rose in a cacophony, each person shouting to place their bets on the next brutal match. The air buzzed with energy, thick with anticipation and the stench of sweat and desperation.

Two dogs were dragged into the ring, heavy chains clinking as they strained against their handlers. Muzzles gripped their jaws tightly, but the snarls that escaped were still feral and bloodthirsty. Each dog lunged at the other, only to be yanked back by their handlers, the tension between the beasts palpable.

A burly man stepped confidently into the ring, his presence commanding the attention of the restless crowd. He raised a hand, his voice booming above the chaos. “In our next fight, we have the crowd favorite—the Wolf-Dog—in corner number one!” A deafening roar of cheers erupted. “And in corner number two, the rising star, Bone-Crusher!”

The crowd screamed, their shouts a mix of excitement and blood-lust. Chants for the Wolf-Dog echoed through the space, while others rooted for the rookie, Bone-Crusher, eager to see if the underdog could upset the favorite.

The handlers moved with deliberate caution, unbuckling the muzzles as the dogs thrashed and growled, barely restrained by the thick chains. Then, a gunshot rang out, piercing through the noise.

The handlers dropped the chains and scrambled out of the ring, just as the two dogs lunged at each other with unrestrained fury.

The fight was underway.

Teeth snapped, fur flew, and blood stained the floor as the dogs clashed in a vicious dance. The Wolf-Dog lunged, teeth sinking into Bone-Crusher’s shoulder, eliciting a pained yelp. But Bone-Crusher was quick to retaliate, claws raking across the Wolf-Dog’s side as they tumbled and rolled, each fighting to assert dominance.

The crowd was on its feet, screaming encouragement and jeers, feeding off the violent spectacle. The ring seemed like a stage for chaos, and the dogs were the stars of this grim performance, each driven by instinct and desperation to kill or be killed.

The sound of gnashing teeth and feral growls filled the air as the two dogs battled for supremacy in the ring. The Wolf-Dog’s fur, matted with blood and dirt, clung to his sinewy frame as he fought with an untamed savagery that sent shivers down the spines of the onlookers. His eyes, wild and fierce, locked onto Bone-Crusher with a primal intensity, a glint of hunger in them as he sought to tear his opponent apart.

Bone-Crusher, no less vicious, was quick to retaliate, his thick muscles rippling as he swung with savage force. His jaws snapped at the Wolf-Dog’s throat, but the smaller, quicker fighter dodged, using his agility to his advantage. The crowd cheered with each strike, their blood-lust growing with every violent movement, their hands gripping the edge of the ring as if they could somehow feel the brutality.

The fight raged on, and the stench of sweat, blood, and animal instinct grew heavier, thicker in the air. The arena itself seemed to pulse with the energy of the battle, a beastly rhythm that matched the rapid pounding of hearts and the frantic pulse of the crowd. It was a twisted symphony, and they were all complicit in it.

The Wolf-Dog’s movements were fluid, almost graceful in their violence, but it was clear he had been through this before. His body bore the scars of countless fights, the deep gashes and ragged edges of old wounds a testament to the life he had been forced to live. Each strike, each new mark added to his history of pain and survival. The crowd didn’t care, though. They only cared for the next moment, the next brutal display of strength, and the next taste of blood.

Bone-Crusher, though younger and less seasoned, was relentless, his blows coming faster and harder. He growled with every hit, each strike designed to break the Wolf-Dog’s resolve. But the Wolf-Dog wasn’t going down so easily.

With a low, guttural snarl, the Wolf-Dog twisted and sank his teeth into Bone-Crusher’s flank, tearing into flesh with a force that made the crowd gasp. Bone-Crusher howled, staggering backward as the blood spurted from the wound. But he wasn’t finished yet. With a raw, animalistic snarl, he charged forward, determined to finish what he had started. His teeth found their mark in the Wolf-Dog’s neck, sinking in with a brutal force.

The arena fell silent for a heartbeat, the crowd holding its breath as the two beasts grappled, locked in a deadly struggle. Bone-Crusher’s jaws were locked around the Wolf-Dog’s throat, and it seemed like the end was near. But just as the life seemed to drain from the Wolf-Dog’s eyes, he twisted violently, throwing Bone-Crusher off of him with a strength that defied the wounds he had endured.

The Wolf-Dog staggered to his feet, blood dripping from his neck, but his eyes were filled with fire. His breath came in ragged gasps, his body trembling from exhaustion, but there was something in him that refused to submit. He growled, low and menacing, as he advanced on Bone-Crusher, who was already trying to rise, dazed and battered.

The crowd was on its feet now, urging the fight to its bloody conclusion. The air was thick with tension, each person desperate to see who would stand victorious. Bone-Crusher lunged, but the Wolf-Dog was faster. With a burst of speed, he ducked under the attack and drove his claws into Bone-Crusher’s chest, pinning him to the ground.

The crowd screamed as the Wolf-Dog’s claws dug deep, blood pouring from the wound. Bone-Crusher gasped, his breath growing shallow as the fight was ripped from him. His body twitched, and then went limp.

The Wolf-Dog stood over him, his chest heaving with effort, blood dripping from his body in thick, dark drops. The arena fell into a stunned silence, the echo of the fight still ringing in the air as the realization set in: the Wolf-Dog had won.

The burly man who had introduced the fighters stepped forward, raising his hands as if trying to calm the frenzied crowd. “And the winner is the Wolf-Dog!” he shouted, his voice barely audible over the deafening roar of the spectators.

The crowd erupted in cheers, chanting the Wolf-Dog’s name, but there was no joy in his eyes. The fight, the victory, meant nothing to him. His only thoughts were of escape, of the freedom he had been denied for far too long. He had survived this fight, but he knew there would be more, each one more brutal than the last, unless he could break free of the ring and the life that had been forced upon him.

As the handlers came to remove the fallen Bone-Crusher, the Wolf-Dog stood in the center of the ring, his eyes cold and distant. He had won, but at what cost?

The lights above flickered, casting eerie shadows across the arena as the crowd’s cheers faded into the background. The Wolf-Dog stood there, a lone figure amidst the chaos, his mind already drifting away from the ring and the people who would never truly understand the price he had paid for his survival.
