Chapter 1
I stare at the water of the waterfall, falling down to the stream.
He is late. I thought, how long do I have to wait?
I took in the surrounding, it is dark out even though I notice some glowing mushrooms on the trees, illuminating soft blue light. This forest is a wonderful place that we tend to meet up when our parents are in bed. We have been dating in secret for 3 months and we have not been caught. At least that is what we pretty much thought.
“Sorry I’m late!” I heard a voice and turned around to see him.
He has pale skin glowing blue from the mushrooms with pitch-black hair with a white streak at the front. He has his horns that are white and thick curved like ram horns, black wings, and a long white tail. I’m different than him with celestial wings, thin, silver, black horns and black tail.
I got closer to him and hug him, “It’s fine and at least you made it.”
“I know babe and sorry that it took me a while to get there because my brother is you know how he is every time I baby sit him.”
I chuckled, “Yeah I do, he’s having trouble sleeping without your mom reading him a bedtime story?”
Ignis nodded, his lips brushing softly against mine. I deepened the kiss, my hand resting on the warm skin of his neck. We lost ourselves completely in our own private universe, oblivious to everything else. Just being ourselves in a place where no one knows of our secret love.
After what felt like an hour of kissing, we took a breather and looked at each other. “I love you Ignis, I want to stay with you and go to a place where no one knows our name.” I whispered with a smile. He has always been there for me even when others were not. He always cheers me up and sometimes we go out and do stupid shit like going to abandon buildings that are prob illegal to enter without permission, sneaking out and exploring other places in small towns away from home, going out to the forest, drinking, and making out.
“Yeah, and when the finals are over, we can run away together.” Ignis responded.
“For real? I thought we are waiting till you know till like at collage where we can live together at a house and be far away from our friends and family?” I asked.
Ignis leaned his forehead against my shoulder, “I know but how long can we wait before others suspect that we are- you know together? And we have about 2 years left of high school till we can leave to the same collage and be…us.”
I frowned as I thought about it. I know there are times when we have been suspected ever since sneaking out to meet each other in secret like one time my mom questioned me if I have been sneaking out and I lied that I just went out to the park for a late night walk on days that I can’t sleep, she ended up grounding me and taking my phone away. She never sees my text and we are very careful of how we talk over text and use secret codes to send each other flirty texts. There are times we slip up the flirty texts and forget to type it out in secret code that we at once remove it after it was sent before others look over to our phones.
“Maybe we can think about running away later after the finals.”
Ignis looked up to me, “Really?”
I look at him deep into his eyes, “Yes, really.”
After the finals were over, I flew to the same spot in the forest with my bag of stuff that I needed with stolen money from my parents and grandma. Although we may be flying for a while, we still need to stop at resting inns.
We picked out a location that is going to take almost a month to fly there. There is this big city called Nalur. It’s a diverse and LGBTQ friendly community that we both can feel comfortable living there. The apartments are not too expensive, and we can get jobs or do odd jobs for other people living there. There are diverse types of monsters and mythic living all over the world. Some towns have only the specific ones and if you are, for example, a centaur in a werewolf town, you’d probably get stared at or get eaten by gangsters. Yes, cannibalism exists and there’s laws that creatures should not eat each other and must give permission to someone who is okay with being eaten. Unfortunately, there are creatures who ignored the rules and if they got caught, they will end up as food than a normal jail. For creatures who have died from accidents or from a sickness or birth, gets donated and packaged up as meats. There are other vegan options like vegies or tofu. Me and Ignis are vegan so we always chose vegan options whenever we can. If not, then we will have to deal with disturbing thoughts about eating a creature that once was alive. We both hoped that 4this area would not make us eat creatures and have vegan options since the reviews of this place say that it is vegan friendly from the restaurants that we looked at along with the stores that we might go there for groceries.
I looked up to the sky and noticed Ignis flying low towards me. I opened my arms wide as he swept into my arms, clashing me to the ground with a hug.
“Good catch baby!” Ignis chuckled.
“Thanks!” I kissed his lips and we both got up from the ground and looked at each other.
“Ready for a flying trip?” Ignis said.
I smiled and felt the excitement flowing into me as I said to him, “Yes I am.”
