Prologues
There’s a legend about Aruntem Island—a place said to brim with wonders yet shrouded in a dark curse. According to the tales, anyone who lives on the island becomes irrevocably bound to it—and to one another—forever.
The locals call it the Grasp of Aruntem.
Those ensnared in its hold cannot escape, not even through death. Their fates are eternal. And for those who dare to leave the island, a strange punishment awaits:
they die shortly after departing.
The cause?
No one truly knows.
Their hearts simply stop, as if the island itself claims them.
But their death is no ordinary one.
It is hauntingly beautiful and deeply surreal. Their bodies harden, transforming into smooth, alabaster-like stone—silent and unyielding, a monument to eternity. Yet this is not the end. It is merely a threshold to something far greater.
The souls of the departed do not leave Aruntem.
Instead, they merge with the island, becoming one with its essence. Some are reborn as majestic trees in the heart of the forest;
others become the cool breeze sweeping along the shores or the relentless waves that crash against the cliffs.
For a few, the choice is different.
They take the shape of a graceful deer bounding through sunlit meadows,
a watchful stag hidden among the underbrush,
or fireflies glowing faintly in the night, illuminating the island’s darkest corners with their soft, ethereal light.
Aruntem thrives on these souls,
their presence weaving beauty and mystery into every inch of the island.
Each step across its land is a journey through an eternal cycle
—of life, death, and rebirth—
binding all who set foot on its soil to an everlasting connection with Aruntem.
Forever.
