A Hockey Story That Centers Around Hockey!
"I know what a novel idea! A hockey story that actually includes hockey. 😆 I've read a number of hockey romances and my biggest complaint is stories where the characters could be doing literally anything else. This story has great depth of detail including gameplay, the camaraderie on and off ice and, even some front office shenanigans. The characters live in this hockey universe and it's a large part of who they are. The world building is fantastically done. All the effort spent developing those background details give the story a structure that the plot can ride on. It shows! 🏆 I'm looking forward to reading the edited version on Galatea. And I'm hoping that the editors do their job of polishing the story and not ruining it.🤞🏼 Honestly, I've seen both and it's always disappointing to me when editors don't do their job in preparing stories for the other app or take out parts that are the heart of the writing. Wish the author the best of luck and I'm rooting for her and her shot at monetizing her writing. I stumbled upon her post, listing her whole series she has planned out for this hockey universe, and I am here for it! You can find me in the stands, drinking coffee and anxiously awaiting every puck drop! 🏒🎉☕"

So Good!
"This story was very well written. It wasn't wham bam, thanks, mam. It had relatable characters that had defined personalities and depth. It had a developed plot that was believable, which is so important in contemporary novels. The story was technically on point, I really enjoyed the writing style altogether. Could it have had a bit more passion, maybe, but I think the feelings and emotions were very present. "
Great writing!
"A fun, emotional story with very fun characters. I'm particularly impressed with the author's ability to turn a phrase. It really sticks with you. If you want a hockey romance with pristine writing and great characters, check this one out! "
Against The Boards
"A wonderfully well written and edited romantic drama with spice. You don’t have to understand hockey to really enjoy this story; it has a bit of everything although I would have loved to see Charles truly suffer. "
Against The Boards
"Against The Boards goes beyond a standard Ice Hockey Romance. It has slick, pacey energy like finely smoothed ice, ready for game day. Plus, a smorgasbord of raw emotions as bruising as a pitch fight. Set against a small town, snow-dusted Ironvale and its hockey team, down and close to out, The Blizzards. The town and the team are as pivotal as the lead characters to giving the story a compelling, human-faced, substantiality. One author strength is scene setting. The POV perspectives of conflicted self-made Fiona and self-searching Wyatt, with “the resting face of a funeral director”, genuinely add depth. You unaffectedly engage with both sides of a complex, churning relationship where “love is loud, clumsy and terrifying real.” Philip, the third point of view, outside the often tense two leads, is given the counterpoise lighter scene-stealing lines and episodes. He is described by a player as the team's therapist and mom. Philip’s epilogue is well worth the reading journey. Another author strength is sharp dialogue. Other reading highlights include game days, which are brutally lock room and ice-crunching and crushing described. Both the low losses and uplifting wins. And overall, there are more suspenseful plot twists involving family, the club and romance than cracks through the ice in a chaotic, heated game. Secondary characters, including the players, staff, and supporters, are well-rounded and individualised. The bedroom scenes are super well done- passionate and spicy without being crass and are integrated meaningfully into whole lives and vary as the characters develop through, speed tangling, sexual baggage, unashamed taking and cinching rooted coupling. Add Against The Boards to your reading list because, as a character states, “Hockey people are weird but also kind of wonderful.” As a sports or romance reader, you will receive no disappointments. "

Against the Boards
"I really enjoyed this story. Will there be follow-up stories regarding the rekindling of Wyatt and Fiona, maybe a wedding or kids? Let's not forget CJ & Phillip. Does that blossom into more, or does one of them break the other's heart? 🤔 I would love to find out. "
