Prologue
Act 1
Chapter 1: Injustice
Scene 1: Sitting in their 1997 medium gold Ford Escort located in the parking lot of their local medical clinic. Dolores and Fergus exchange goodbyes as they start their hectic schedule for the day. Fergus has important meetings at work, while Dolores has several errands she hopes to accomplish before the day’s end.
Dolores: I would not dream of you missing your meeting with Anderson today. He is a very important client.
Fergus: Honey, you and those two little ones you are carrying are more important.
Dolores: I know how much you love us, Fergus. I was the one who mistakenly made my doctor’s appointment today. I’m sorry your business meeting slipped my mind. It’s okay, you’ll come with me on the next one. Now, I need to get out of this car before I’m late. I’ll call Mildred to pick me up.
Dolores pecks Fergus on the cheek glancing back at him before she walks into the doctor’s office.
Setting Change: The clinic is so clean that it shines. It smells of antiseptic cleaners and sterile plastic packaging. The walls and floors are bright white.
Dr. Keller: Dolores, come in. I’m ready for you now. [pause] You look a little peaked, how have you been feeling?
Dolores: I didn’t want to worry Fergus, so I didn't mention it to him, but I have had some pain.
Dr. Keller: [Nods in understanding] I see. I’ll let you change into a gown and I will be back to take a look at you.
Dolores: Thank you, doctor.
Setting Change: Dr. Keller went into his office and down a flight of stairs behind an automatic sliding bookcase. The bright light of the clinic is gone. Dark shadows now cast across the doctor’s face.
Dr. Keller: She’s here, David. Today is her twenty-eighth week of gestation. She also appears to be experiencing Braxton Hicks, which will make it easier for the couple to accept.
Dr. Kimball: I feel I have a good chance of it working this time, Raymond.
Dr. Keller: I don’t feel right about this, David. This baby is healthy with good parents, unlike the others whose mothers were alcoholics and drug addicts.
Dr. Kimball: Precisely! With a healthy baby it can work. I've come so close even with unhealthy ones.
[Said with excitement.] He then lowers his voice and speaks in a persuasive, yet hushed tone.
Dr. Kimball: It will work. Don't you see Raymond?
Dr. Keller: Nevertheless, I still don’t feel right about this. David. The other mothers took money and agreed to have the procedure. She didn’t!
Dr. Kimball: Nothing more than gratuities David, besides the point. Did you not hear what I just said? It will work this time! And I don’t have to remind you, you are in this as deep as I am. You don’t want to lose your practice, do you?
Dr. Keller: You don’t have to keep threatening me. I made one mistake, I was tired from the night before. I had had too much to drink, and I gave the wrong woman an abortion. For the love of God, she had another baby it was just an accident. I should have never come into the office that day.
Dr. Kimball: But you did come into the office that day.
Dr. Keller: I know I did! But this…this is becoming monstrous.
Dr. Kimball: Spare me your act of contrition, Raymond. You will continue to help me. If this works, it will be the most remarkable thing science has ever achieved.
Dr. Keller: It is illegal.
Dr. Kimball: Enough Keller! Take me to the patient.
Setting Change: Dr. Keller and Dr. Kimball entered one of the clinic's patient rooms. Dolores sits unsuspectingly on the hospital bed already wearing the hospital gown she was asked to dawn by Dr. Keller.
Dr. Keller: Dolores, this is Dr. David Kimball. It’s Alaina’s day off and he’s offered to assist me.
Dolores: Nice to meet you, Dr. Kimball.
[Dolores lays down for a routine ultrasound. The two doctors quickly turn the screen from Dolores’ view.]
Dr. Kimball: Dear God, I’m so sorry.
Dolores: What? What is it?
Dr. Keller: Please Dolores, you must remain calm. Dolores, I’m truly sorry. I’m afraid those pains you’ve been having are because one of the twins is miscarrying.
Dolores: Can’t you do something?
Dr. Kimball: I’m afraid not. The baby does not have a heartbeat.
[Dolores sits in shock feeling defeated.]
Dr. Keller: Dolores, can you hear me?
Dolores: Yes, Dr. Keller. [Her response was spacey.]
Dr. Keller: If we have any chance of saving your other baby we must act quickly, do you understand?
Dolores: I need to call my husband. I want him to be here with me. I can't do this alone.
Dr. Keller: There’s no time, we need to act quickly or both babies may be lost.
Dolores: [Anxiety is written all over her face.] Please save my baby, doctor.
Dr. Keller: I want you to lie back for me and try to relax. Dr. Kimball here will get a shot for you. It will put you to sleep.
Dr. Kimball: I’ll be right back with the medication.
[Pretending to leave he only waits outside the door. After a few minutes, he returns with a shot already prepared to remove one of the twins from Dolores’ womb.]
Once Dolores is under the influence of the anesthesia the two doctors wheel her into an operating room. They are careful in their experimental C-section to only remove one of the two twins from the womb. Once the newborn baby is delivered, Dr. Keller immediately administers Dolores another shot to stop her labor. Dr. David Kimball places the baby into an incubator and wheels him downstairs to his lab.
Setting Change: Fergus returns home late due to his meeting that day.
Fergus: [Chipper and excited to see his pregnant wife] Dolores! Dolores honey? Dolores, are you here?
[He searches the entire house. He was just about to call Mildred, but he noticed the answering machine blinking.]
Dr. Keller: Fergus, this is Dr. Raymond Keller. Your wife had some complications, and she will be spending the night here at the clinic. She won’t be awake until tomorrow sometime, but if you would like to come to the clinic to see her I will understand. Unfortunately, I can only stay until 8:OO p.m. however, our night staff will be here. Feel free to come anytime you would like. I’m afraid that is all the information I am at liberty to tell you in this message.
[Fergus grabs his keys and heads straight to the clinic barely putting his car in park. He runs inside the clinic to the reception desk.]
Fergus: My wife, Dolores Goody?
Nurse: Your wife is doing quite well, Mr. Goody. I’ll show you to her room.
Fergus: The doctor said she had complications.
Nurse: I can tell you that she is resting and is expected to make a full recovery. The doctor will be here first thing tomorrow morning.
Several months later both babies hidden in the secret lab for experimentation are thriving. Both the baby who was taken from the Goody couple and the baby who was cloned from his skin cells. The experiment was a success.
Dr. Kimball was able to use the skin cells from the delivered baby and clone a new baby. He kept both of them for his experiments. However, he has been unable to duplicate the process.
Dr. Kimball destroyed the secret lab located under the clinic in his frustration of not being able to replicate the procedure. He carelessly smashed every glass jar causing a chemical reaction that led to starting a fire that destroyed nearly the entire lab.
Setting change: Dr. Kimball disappears, taking the babies from the experiment with him to raise with his wife, Iris. The Kimball couple already had twin daughters, Tara and Amelia. His wife named the twin boys from the medical experiment, Wayland and Michael. Iris was completely unaware that her husband had cloned one of the children.
For a while, the family of six lived happily. That was until Dr. Kimball decided to start experimenting again. He started working late, spending more and more time away from home. He sometimes would have gone days without calling or going home to spend time with his family.
Iris had become friends with the neighbor's son, Allen Zabel, home from college for the summer. They would have long talks in the backyard over the fence as Iris took down the laundry from the clothesline and Allen cleaned the backyard and pool.
Iris had become lonely with David being gone all the time and Allen took full advantage. Seducing her with quiet, snug, conversations, slight touches, and little kisses.
Though Iris was reluctant at first when Allen began to make advances toward her, she could not deny the moistness of her panties when he touched her. The slightest touch to the hardness of her breast nipples sent a sensation coursing through her whole body and left her wanting. It took a little persistence on Allen's part and soon they became lovers.
Iris became very happy with their little arrangement. Allen would sneak over while David was out working. Iris found herself becoming addicted to having sex. It even seems to improve her and David’s sex life.
One particular afternoon David had come home unexpectedly and saw his pregnant wife in bed with another man. He could not believe his eyes. He walked upstairs and reached their bedroom, he stopped before entering.
Listening, he heard his wife’s voice. It sounded playful. Smiling, he was about to go into the room when he heard a man’s voice.
He then stood silently at the partly cracked door. Watching as they smiled and giggled together it reminded him of when he had first met his wife. She was so beautiful and they were so very much in love. His anger bloomed.
Ruminating thoughts cycled, slowly over and over, then they became rushed and out of focus distorting his reasoning thereby altering his judgment. Thinking to himself.
David: Are the twins even my daughters? Was Iris already pregnant when I returned home from the service? Was that why she was so “understanding” when I said I wanted to go to college? Did she have lovers even back then? Is the baby she’s carrying now even my baby? I must be going mad! No, I am mad, I am more than mad.
He began to smolder, his face became flushed as a fiery red sunset. He felt his hands become clammy. His sweat is likened to a hippopotamus’s blood sweat.
Rage filled his eyes.
Waspishness [Hostility] washed over him and his mind deceived him like a burst storm drain.
[He quietly crept downstairs to the basement taking an armful of grenades he had hidden in a crate under the floor. He crept back upstairs and opened the door softly.]
[Startled Iris’ eyes met his, with fear, shame, and guilt.]
Iris: David! [She cried.]
[Without a word he unpinned a grenade and tossed it at her one after the next until he had tossed seven grenades into the room. His steps were mechanical as he walked outside in a trance-like state and sat on the curb, having no memory of what had taken place.]
End of Scene.

Hi, I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed reading your story. The title grabbed my attention right away, and the story itself exceeded all my expectations. Your storytelling is amazing, and the characters are well-crafted. As I finished, I couldn't help but think how perfect this story would be as a comic. The more I thought about it, the more I felt it would look incredible in that format.
