What is your opinion?
Love the Title
"First off, One of the reasons I scrolled through the list of stories in the humor section and picked yours to read was because I loved the unique title that grabs your attention right away. Your characters were well described and each their own, which is the pitfall for many writers. The character development was also spot on with Nicole and most importantly, I genuinely enjoyed reading this story. I'd suggest going back and proofreading your story and also having some other eyes do the same as this will likely catch most grammatical and basic errors. Also, there are some things repeated a lot throughout the story like Leanne's reasons for jealousy. My main issue was probably Andrew. The reasons I understood from the story of why he and Nicole drifted was Cora, him not wanting to disappoint Nicole with Cora, and Cora wanting the wedding to be all about her. This disappointed me as through the duration of the story, this was the question I was waiting for the answer of. To me, those reasons don't explain why Andrew would forget to invite his family to all these important events until the last minute. I would love a better explanation for the drift and why Andrew waited so long to show Cora off. Obviously, if I missed another reason, please let me know. Overall, great read which I would recommend others to read"
Should Have Been a Good Read
"After finishing this story I find myself very disappointed. The author slants the entire story so that the main character facing a difficult situation--letting go of a brother (to the bonds of matrimony) who had been like a father to her--is left with only one person from her entire family on her side. The "us against the world" mentality lasts the entire book. Yes, sometimes family is stupid. Occasionally, they are really mental. However, it should never be acceptable for family to tell another family member that they are unimportant and that their feelings do not matter. You have a right to be upset. Do you have a right to act out? No. But you have a right to have hurt feelings. That is human. The author does not set this story up this way. The main character is trapped by the situation surrounding her only sibling's wedding. She is ignored, ostracized, and rejected. The story ends with this moral: You should let others live their lives; just go with the flow. You are not allowed to feel hurt, let alone express this emotion. Let others stab you in the back; if it hurts, apologize for being a wimp. If your brother is making a huge mistake, stand by and watch. If your brother's future mother-in-law won't let you attend your own brother's ceremony, that's what you get for being difficult. I reject this mentality. Introverts frequently have difficulty expressing themselves. This does not invalidate their opinion. They should not be ignored or shunted to the side, merely because they are not the loudest or most vocal. This is unacceptable. INFJ's, INFP's, INTJ's, INTP's, ISFP's, ISTP's, ISTJ's, and ISFJ's may not be able to tell you why they feel a certain way. Their intuition comprehends a situation, and then gives them a vibe as to how it feels about a certain situation. How do you explain that to others? Yet this "vibe" is based on the subconscious part of the brain taking in, processing, and analyzing information/stimuli. This is how introverts, especially INXX's think. This is normal. This is acceptable. They should not be shamed, because this is how their brains' work. They should not be shamed, because they struggle to feel included, because they struggle to make themselves heard, because they struggle to feel a part of everything. Yet this author condones all of that. It was the main character's fault for being the way that God created her. It was the main character's fault for being concerned about her brother's choices. It was her fault for feeling upset when her brother completely cut her out of his life. No. That--this book--this author--is wrong."
