Meeting an alien

"Nia, I need you to stop at the store and get some more groceries!" my mom called up to me as I got ready for my usual (not really, but I'll get there) day in town hanging out with my friends. "Okay mom!" I called back down as I slipped my phone into my jacket pocket. I rushed downstairs to grab my earbuds and headed out to the store.

I started walking out toward the usual store I stop at for groceries while listening to my playlist. A little ways along the road, I look down at my phone to change songs. I looked up to continue walking down the street, when a strange hansom man walks up. He reaches for my arm and pulls me to his side. "Keep quiet but follow me. I need your help." he said to me as we walked the opposite direction. "Wh-What?... Where are you taking me? A-Are you kidnapping me?" I asked quietly, feeling flustered.
The man looks behind him then quickly turns back and starts running at full speed, pulling me behind him. "Wh-Whoa...!" I yelped as I jerked forward. I thought he'd slow down after a little bit, but he kept moving, as if he had an unlimited source of energy, or he was possibly used to running a lot. "Wh-Where are we going?" I asked as we continued running.

After a little while longer of hard running, we finally reached an alley to hide in. "Stay here and keep quiet," he told me as he walked further into the alley. Naturally, however, my curious mind told me to follow him and see what he was potentially hiding. "Who are you?" I asked as we reached a lone blue police box. I stared at it, wondering how it got here in the first place. "I'm the Doctor," he replied as he stepped into the strange box. "Doctor?" I asked, "... Doctor who?"

I sighed, a little irritated and walked into the box, wondering how he could stay in such a crammed space. As soon as I saw the massive interior, my eyes grew wide. "Wh-What? How...?" I asked. I backed out and walked around the exterior of the box to make sure it wasn't a painted wall. It wasn't for sure. I walked back in, confused. "It's... It's... bigger... on the inside..." I said quietly. He smiled, as if he knew I'd say that exact sentence. "Welcome to the TARDIS," he said. "Wait... The what?" I asked in reply. "The TARDIS, well, my TARDIS, there are still others in the universe," he replied, "It stands for time and relative dimensions in space." I went silent for a moment to think about what just happened. He looked at me, seemingly knowing what I was feeling.

After a few minutes, I finally remembered why he brought me here. "Wait... Doctor," I started, "What was it that you needed my help with?" His face lit up a little as he registered that I had remembered it as well. "Oh, yes!" he replied, seemingly excited. "I ran here because a very old enemy of mine was tracking me down to try and find my daughter, who is well hidden here on Earth." I stared at him, confused. "You have an enemy? After your child?" I asked. He nodded, looking relatively worried.

A few minutes later, I hear a small beep coming from the center of the TARDIS. "What was that?" I asked, curiously. "Oh, that must be her," he replied as he walked over to the console. "Okay..." I said to myself. What have I gotten myself into? I thought. I sat there listening to the Doctor talk to his daughter. "Susan," he started, "How are you doing so far?" There was a brief moment of silence before she spoke up with a response. "Oh... Uh... I'm fine. Mostly. I'm stressed because my laptop broke and I have to pay for it, which is impossibly because I don't have money right now." An expression of concern flashes on the Doctor's face. "Why is she complaining about a laptop when she's being chased by some enemy?" I asked. "She needs it to finish school," he replied. I sighed. Then it occurred to me; he and his child were aliens. What? This hansom human-looking man is an alien? I thought.

"Hold up," I said. "What?" he asked in response. "If you, and your daughter, are an alien, then how come she goes to school here on Earth?" I asked. He sighed, thinking for a moment. "Well, she was forced to... Because of the enemy that's trying to take her down," he replied. "But why?" I asked. He sighed for a moment, thinking. "Well, it's... complicated," he replied, "This enemy, another species called the Daleks, has been trying to get rid of her since birth." I stared at him for a brief moment, trying to take in what he just explained to me. "Since birth?" I asked, "Why birth? I mean, was she chosen for something?" To my surprise, he didn't reply immediately like he had done before.

A few moments after standing in the TARDIS, I felt a sudden jolt. "What the? ... Is something trying to move this box?" I asked, feeling worried. "Oh, no. Not externally." he replied, "I did, from this console here." I stared at the console, confused. "B-but how?" I asked. "The box you saw outside is just a cloak; albeit broken," he replied, "The true structure you're seeing in here is a space ship/time machine." I sighed. "Oh.. Okay then."

"Wait, since you said this thing is a space ship, does that mean we moved?" I asked. "Yes, we did. I actually did the shopping for you, and I just brought you back home so you don't have to worry about time," the Doctor replied, grinning slightly, as if he knew exactly what he was doing. "Wait, but we were out there for like ten maybe twenty minutes, and I never take more than five," I protested, feeling worried. "No. Not at all, actually," he started, "It did feel like it was that long, but since this is also a time machine, I also brought you back at about the time that you would be back home had you just gone to the store and back." I stared at him again for a brief moment. "W-wait," I started, "How d-did you kn-know I was in a rush?" I asked. "I'm telepathic," he replied, "I can read your thoughts." I sighed, wondering about what I had just gotten myself into.

"I really need to go, Doctor," I said finally, "My mom will be worried." He nodded, as if he understood that same feeling. I walked outside and realized that he had taken me home. I sighed with relief, but I still felt confused and shaken about having met a genuine alien. But he's so human-looking... How can he be alien? I thought. Oh well, I'll have to see if I can catch him tomorrow and see if I can find out more about him.
