Preface

Devon had always felt out of place, but it wasn’t until two months after his thirty-fifth birthday that the truth began to surface. As a child, he’d chalked it up to typical growing pains, an inherent need for something more that most people his age simply couldn’t understand. He had been loved, raised by parents who believed in him and supported him, but the sense of being different never left him.

By the time Devon reached adulthood, the gnawing sensation of being out of sync with the world had only grown stronger. He was successful, popular even, but still, there was a nagging emptiness—a void that couldn’t be filled. What he had always thought were dreams, moments of pure fantasy that fluttered just on the edge of his consciousness, now seemed to be something more.

Then, two months after his thirty-fifth birthday, Devon’s life was irrevocably changed. It happened on a routine workday, during an early morning meeting at a remote location. He never expected what came next—a confrontation that would force him to face the truth about himself, even as he had no idea what was truly happening.

As Devon stepped outside for a break, he was ambushed by a group of wolves—ten strong, their eyes glowing with hunger. These weren’t ordinary wolves. They were werewolves, sensing something powerful emanating from him that Devon didn’t even know was there. The wolves surrounded him, attempting to force him into their pack, sensing the latent energy that ran deep within him, a power that pulsed beneath his human skin.

The tension in the air was palpable, and Devon could feel a strange pull inside him, a stirring he had never known. Panic began to rise, but before he could react, something inside him—something ancient—awakened. A surge of power coursed through his body, igniting his very soul. The Dragon within him stirred, instinctively rising to defend himself from the threat before him.

In that moment, without fully understanding what he was doing, Devon’s hands moved of their own accord, casting a spell—a raw, primal force he had never known he could wield. A burst of energy exploded from his chest, sending shockwaves through the air. The ten werewolves surrounding him dropped to the ground, writhing in pain, as if their very nerves had been set aflame by the force of his magic.

Devon stood there, heart pounding, as the wolves howled in agony, unable to rise. The power that had just erupted from him was undeniable. His connection to something greater—something far beyond human—was no longer a mystery. With the wolves incapacitated and unable to pursue him, Devon took the opportunity to flee, his mind racing. What had just happened? And who—or what—was he truly?

This moment, this terrifying and powerful escape, was the catalyst that would eventually lead Devon to the truth. The secrets of his bloodline—dragons, warlocks, nephilim—had been hidden from him for thirty-five years, but now they had awoken with a vengeance. The Dragon inside him had been waiting, and now it was fully alive.

The Rogue Moon Pack would soon become a part of his story, but for now, Devon had only one question: how was he going to come to terms with the power he didn’t even know existed within him? His life was about to change forever, and he wasn’t sure if he was ready for the truth.
