Chapter 1 - New Beginnings
Where... where am I??? Kai thought to himself. He had been in a convenience store, grabbing a couple of snacks. But as he stood in line to purchase his items, an armed robber entered the store.
He attempted to stop the robbery using the various martial arts he had practiced throughout his life. But this was for naught, as he was quickly gunned down. Full of adrenaline, Kai wasn't thinking straight; he forgot not to bring fist to a gunfight.
After what seemed like an eternity, he fully woke up and felt that his body was balled up in an extremely tight space. He opened his eyes but saw only endless darkness. When he tried to breathe, he instead felt and smelled a sticky, stinky, thick fluid flow down his mouth.
Panic set in, and he began to thrash around, thinking he was drowning. His fear of tight spaces, combined with his rising adrenaline, allowed him to summon enough strength to crack the thin, warm wall he was hitting.
With each hit, more light shone through the cracks until the wall eventually collapsed. The warm, nasty liquid flooded out as Kai hurriedly attempted to breathe. Yes!!! he thought, taking countless deep breaths as if he had just finished a marathon.
Now free from that disgusting confined space, Kai looked around and instantly realized he was not on Earth.
Where the fuck am I??? He thought as he stared at the purple moon in the sky. Looking down at his body, he noticed that he appeared to be a child. His hands and feet were now "baby-sized," and he felt much closer to the ground. He was certain he had somehow become smaller.
What really stunned Kai was his bright red skin. From the middle of his throat down to the bottom of his abdomen and extending along the underside of his arms was what looked like superheated tissue, blood vessels, and nerves. These heated parts of his body glowed intensely, outlining them within his skin. What use this had to Kai, he didn't know, but he was sure to look into it later.
He also saw extremely sharp black nails on his hands and feet. He explored the rest of his body but found no tail or wings. To his surprise, he did feel sharp canines and two small horns protruding from his forehead, above each of his eyes. He also still had his manhood, which lightened his mood.
Then he began to think, trying to come up with an explanation for what had occurred. The only explanation he could come up with was that he had somehow been isekai'd into a different world—specifically the world of demons from the novel "Custom Made Demon King."
He was certain this was true, as that was his favorite novel, one he had reread many times. He precisely remembered the environment described in the book, and it was an exact match for the surroundings he was amazed by right now.
A large purple moon? "Check."
Vast amounts of red and black sand? "Check."
Vast amounts of Black eggs of various sizes on a beach? "Check."
These three things made Kai confident in his hypothesis, and he immediately began to plan from that moment on.
His first thought was to check if he had a "system" like Roy, the protagonist of this world, as usually all isekai protagonist get one.
"System Open!" Kai thought in his head.
It didn't work.
Kai screamed it again, this time trying with his actual voice. But all that came out were shrieks, as his premature lungs couldn't form words.
He couldn't seem to remember how Roy unlocked his system until, about 30 seconds of pondering later—CHA-CHING!!!—Kai suddenly recalled a key detail from the story. He had to eat his egg. When Roy consumed his demon egg, he gained his system and demon name. So Kai figured this was what he also had to do.
According to the memory, every little demon hatched from an egg would obtain a name after devouring their eggshell. This name was the true demon name, and it was a mark imprinted on the demon's soul that must not be disclosed to anyone. If there was need, they could generally take a segment of their name from the whole string.
The reason why the true demon name had to be kept a secret was that once it became known to someone else, that person could bring severe damage to the demon through special means! The disclosure of the true demon name was an immense threat to their survival! It was a common weakness among all demons!
Kai then rushed over to his demon egg and was about to eat it when he noticed a seemingly even smaller version of himself sleeping inside.
"I have a twin brother?" Kai thought.
He knew that twins in the demon world usually weren't a good thing, as one of the twins often ended up massively weaker if they weren't killed. This was evidenced by Benia, one of Roy's wives.
He contemplated what to do, constantly shifting between the thoughts of killing his twin or letting him live. He knew the demon world was harsh and that he would have to do unspeakable things to survive, but his human ethics convinced him not to kill his own brother.
As he examined his brother, he checked his pulse to ensure he was still alive. Looking at his face, he realized how hideous it was, which made him want to kill himself. As his twin, he also had that grotesque Oni-like visage.
After examining his brother, he dragged the small body out of the egg and onto the red sand. Suddenly, an immense wave of hunger hit him, as if someone were digging into his stomach. Frantically, he began to eat the egg, saving half of the shell for his brother, knowing he could only gain his demon name from this egg.
Kai was right; he gained his entire demon name after eating half of the egg, along with a system alert that said:
"Custom Made Demon King System has activated!"
As soon as this rang in Kai's mind, an illusory image appeared in his sight.
What appeared before him was a panel! In the center of the panel was a strange eye. It blinked at Kai and made a clicking sound that immediately reminded him of the noise his mobile phone made when he took a picture.
After blinking, the eye disappeared. What replaced it was an image in the blank space right in the middle of the panel.
The picture depicted a squatting little demon with dark red skin and pointy ears. In addition to a pair of exposed pointed horns, he had messy black fetal hair. His face resembled that of a red Oni, complete with a fat, wide nose and large sharp canine teeth that were constantly on display like a crocodile's.
"I've gotta change this horrendous face when I get the chance!" Kai thought while still staring at the image of himself.
Putting that aside, Kai began to explore the extra options at the top of the panel.
The first item was "Beautify." He stretched out his hand to touch it, and a series of tools popped up on the left side of the panel. These tools included a Graffiti Pen, Erasing Pen, Coloring Pen, and some other special brushes.
Aside from the Beautify function, there were also options like Color, Special Effects, Text, Collage, Filter, 3D, AE, Save, and more.
At the same time, an attribute panel appeared beside Kai's demon selfie.

These options were all the same as Kai remembered, even the system bad mouthing him was directly copy and pasted and his guess if being born prematurely was also correct. Later, as he considered how to use the system, he realized he wasn't a good artist!
