My name is not Lolita

Summary

Poetry about (not) falling prey to older men with a fetish for innocence, about girlhood, youth and those in the shadows who enjoy stealing it. I've had many names, none are Lolita. "I want him the way a child wants candy Meaning it would be wise to refuse me Through his lips my name feels alive again Somebody guide me or punish me It is sick when a man lies down with a girl It is sick and downright wicked And I won't do it Somebody hold me I don't know any better All I am is a girl. And I think I'll be one forever."

Her story

I hear they stripped away her name, distorted her story, gave her the worst of intentions. I don't know her and I never will. She was just a girl, so she was akin to me.

I know hers was never a love story.

Mine wasn't either.

Was yours?
