The History Of Eskaria
Before Eskaria, there was chaos—or so the stories go. The oldest nation of Poisaas, its origins are cloaked in myth and debate. Some speak of Cassius, an immortal god from the stars, who wandered the void until he discovered this world. He landed on Eskaria, a land of untamed beauty, and, in his loneliness, shaped its first lifeforms. Beings like giants, fae, lycanthrope, and mortals, lived together, their harmony fleeting as envy and ambition took root.
To restore balance, Cassius chose a handful mortals, granting them strength beyond imagination. These chosen few became rulers, tasked with keeping peace among the others. But his final creation, the Mordroxes, creatures of overwhelming power and insatiable hunger, nearly brought ruin. In desperation, Cassius split Eskaria with a fiery chasm, a wound that reached to the planet’s core. Lava surged to the surface, forming two towering volcanos and a molten rift that separated Eskaria from the newly formed land, Gorem. The Mordroxes were imprisoned, their wrath sealed beneath the molten sea.
Over time, Gorem’s immortal families turned against one another, fighting for dominance. One family, the Maxwells, ultimately seized control. But their hunger for power grew, and they set their sights on Eskaria. The land of Eskaria, weakened by volcanic eruptions, could not defend itself. The Maxwells swept in, enslaving its people and creatures to fuel their war machine.
Desperate, the fae turned to forbidden magic. To fight the Maxwells, they transformed seven Eskarian families into immortals, each bound to an elemental power. This ritual came at great cost. A fae named Lysandre gave her life to seal the magic, and the prison holding the Mordroxes was briefly opened and hastily resealed.
Empowered, the seven immortal families led Eskaria to victory. Azar Embry, a firstborn of fire, forged an alliance with the dragon Draxus, and together they brought the Maxwells to their knees. Azar unleashed the fury of Eskaria’s volcanos, driving Gorem’s forces back across the rift and forcing the Maxwells to swear never to return.
Eskaria was divided into ten kingdoms, seven ruled by the elemental families and three by its allied creatures. In gratitude, the ten kingdoms crowned Azar the first High King, declaring that his bloodline would forever hold the title. The firstborn of each firstborn in his line would inherit the throne.
Centuries passed, and the Embry name endured. Azar Embry II, a strong and beloved High King, held the throne during a tumultuous era. He waged war against Brom Blackwell, king of Belerei, who sought the High Throne. Though victorious, Azar struggled to produce an heir for over two hundred years. Finally, his wife, High Queen Theia Lucius of Zalarie, bore him a daughter, Serephina Emery. Theia did not survive the birth.
Now, twenty years later, High Queen Serephina stands as the sole ruler of all of Eskaria. Young, untested, and bearing the weight of centuries of war and sacrifice, she faces a kingdom fractured and a future uncertain. And beyond the rift, the shadows of Gorem stir once more.
