Chapter 1

A trembling hand held the phone tightly, her voice shaking with fury.

??: "Don’t you dare come near me or my daughters."

A deep, desperate voice replied from the other end.

?: "They are mine too! You can't take them away from me—"

??: "You lost that right the day you abandoned us! You are no one to my daughters. They are only mine! You don’t deserve to be called their father."

?: "I will get my daughters back. I promise you—"

She cut the call, her vision blurred with tears. With a trembling breath, she grabbed the suitcases, carrying her one-year-old daughter in one arm while clutching the tiny hand of her three-year-old in the other. Without a backward glance, she walked out of the house, into the waiting car, and disappeared into the city’s night.

MORNING, YEARS LATER

Sunrays seeped through the gaps in the curtains, illuminating a serene face. Y/N stirred in her sleep before slowly opening her eyes. The moment she saw the time, her heart dropped.

Y/N: "Oh God, I'm late!"

She jumped from the bed and rushed into the washroom. Within minutes, she was dressed in all black, her hair falling in perfect waves. Grabbing an apple, she dashed out of her apartment, heading straight to her university.

---

SOMEWHERE ELSE...

The heavy doors of a sleek black Bugatti La Voiture Noire swung open. A man stepped out, dressed in a velvet black tuxedo. His mere presence radiated dominance, making those around him bow their heads in fear. Jeon Jungkook.

Without sparing a glance at anyone, he strode into his office, where six men awaited him—his partners in crime.

The Six Kings of the Underworld

Kim Seokjin (26)

Owner of Korea’s top restaurants and an ordnance specialist

Min Yoongi (26)

CEO of Min Corporation, a computer genius, and a silent observer.

Jung Hoseok (25)

President of Min Corporation and a deadly marksman.

Kim Namjoon (25)

CEO of Kim Industries and the human computer of the group.

Kim Taehyung (24)

Vice President of Kim Industries and a top-notch sniper.

Park Jimin (24)

President of Jeon Corporation, known for his manipulative mind.

They were discussing their latest business venture when the doors swung open, revealing their golden maknae and the most feared leader of the most dangerous mafia group Venomous Circle—Jeon Jungkook.

Jungkook took his seat at the head of the table, his expression unreadable.

Jimin: "Kook, someone stole our consignment."

Jungkook exhaled sharply, rubbing his temple. "How many times do I have to tell you not to discuss our business in my office?"

Taehyung: "But Kook, this is serious. That consignment was supposed to be delivered today!"

Yoongi: "And I can't track it anywhere," he muttered, typing furiously on his laptop.

Jin: "Wait. If Yoongi can’t find it, that means whoever stole it is just as good as him."

Namjoon: "Not only that, but they didn’t leave a single trace."

Hoseok: "I’ve checked all the highway CCTV footage. There’s no sign of the truck."

Jungkook smirked. "Relax."

Jin: "RELAX?! Kook, this is—"

Jin’s phone rang suddenly, interrupting his outburst. He glanced at the caller ID and answered, putting it on speaker.

Jin: "Hello, Mr. Wang?"

Mr. Wang: "I’m impressed! The consignment arrived earlier than expected."

Silence fell over the room. Everyone’s eyes widened—except Jungkook’s.

Jin: "You… received it?"

Mr. Wang: "Yes. The money will be transferred soon. Thanks for the delivery."

As soon as the call ended, all eyes turned to Jungkook, who leaned back in his chair, a smug smile playing on his lips.

Jimin: "Kook… how? You were at home the whole time."

Hoseok: "You delivered it? How?!"

Yoongi: "We were tracking it for hours, and you—"

Jungkook: "I’m the king of Asia hyung. No one can betray me." His dark gaze glowed with amusement. "As for the traitor… he's waiting for you all in our favorite place. Go greet him properly."

Without another word, the six men rushed out of the office.

Jungkook: "Mark, give me today’s schedule."

Mark: "You have to attend the university's official scholarship ceremony."

Jungkook’s jaw clenched. "Time?"

Mark: "In half an hour, sir."

AT THE UNIVERSITY

Ash: "Y/N, you’re late again!"

Y/N: "I know, I know! I just couldn’t sleep last night."

Ash: "Fine. Anyway, today’s the scholarship ceremony. And I know you’re going to top again!"

Y/N: "I hope so."

As they walked to the main entrance, they noticed students whispering and fixing their outfits.

Y/N: "Why is everyone acting like they’re about to meet God?"

Ash smirked. "Because the guest today is the Jeon Jungkook. The youngest, richest CEO in Asia. Also, the most unreachable man alive."

Y/N raised a brow. "So?"

Ash rolled her eyes. "So, every girl here is dying to get even a glance from him."

Just then, a black Bugatti rolled into view. The crowd screamed as Jeon Jungkook stepped out, his aura overpowering.

As the ceremony began, the top three students were called onto the stage—Y/N, Soobin, and Ash.

As Y/N stepped forward to receive her scholarship, her hand brushed against Jungkook’s.

A shockwave coursed through both of them.

For a moment, everything around them blurred. Their eyes locked, lost in an unspoken connection. The intensity was almost suffocating—until Soobin stepped forward, breaking the trance.

Jungkook (softly): "Congratulations, Y/N."

Y/N: "Thank you, sir."

As she walked away, Jungkook clenched his fists. He had met thousands of people, yet why did she affect him this way?

He signal to Mark and Mark understood the work and left from there.

THAT NIGHT – JEON MANSION

Jungkook stood on his balcony, a glass of wine in his hand, the city lights below flickering like stars. But his mind was somewhere else—on her.

He wasn’t the type to be distracted, yet Y/N’s image refused to leave his mind.

A knock at the door snapped him back.

Mark entered, handing him a file.

Jungkook: "What took you so long?"

Mark hesitated. "Sir… there’s something wrong with that girl."

Jungkook’s brows furrowed. "What do you mean?"

Mark exhaled. "Her past… it doesn’t exist. There’s no record of her parents. No family background. She came to Korea two years ago, but before that…" He looked up. "It’s as if she never existed."

Jungkook stared at the file, his grip tightening.

"Who exactly are you, Y/N?"

As he lay on his bed, file in hand, the same thought echoed in his mind.

And for the first time in years…

Jeon Jungkook felt intrigued.
