An Enticing Outline of a Fascinating Epic

"This story has enormous potential, and the first line really got me (see Inkitt's blog article on Writing First Lines--you nailed it here). I love the idea of opening a book that is someone's "last will and testament." That said, I was surprised by what follows. While this might indeed by his last will, if this is all we get of the story, it's enormously unsatisfying. However, if it's the Prologue or First Chapter to a longer work, it's amazing. Right now, it reads like an outline of a great story--the idea that a pursuit of knowledge could have led to the destruction of an entire culture, and that if the manuscript is being read now, it is already too late, is fascinating. But we want to know the details, man! :) What happened? What knowledge? This is a wonderful skeleton that could be beautifully embellished, so I hope this was just a teaser to gauge our interest. Write more and tell us his story. Alone, this isn't enough of a story, but as a window into a larger world, it works perfectly. So I gave it 3 stars because it's a teaser right now, but this could easily be a 5-star story. Great writing and evocative characterization. We just need more!"
