Summary

Las ambiciones por descubrir la verdad y creer alcanzar el conocimiento ha sobrepasado los límites de la moralidad de unos profesionales en psicología por demostrar que existen medios más sencillos para acceder a la información oculta en la mente humana, incluso sobre aquello que una persona ignora tener. Es así como deciden usar un gas cuyas propiedades derivan de la sustancia psicoactiva o “esencia de la naturaleza” que provee el Yagé, más conocido en el mundo como la Ayahuasca. Al exponer esta sustancia de manera deliberada en una población muestra reconocieron que fue un error y una completa pesadilla.

Prólogo

— ¿Alguna vez le has temido a algo o a alguien al punto de generar terror? - Esa voz grave resonaba en el lugar oscuro que sólo podía mantenerme quieta en la posición donde me encontraba.

— El mal —respondo intentando ocultar el miedo que me invadía al escuchar esa voz.

— Especifica. - La voz resuena de nuevo más cerca. ¿Podría ver en la oscuridad?

— No sabría cómo. El mal puede presentarse de diferentes maneras. - Me detengo para escuchar si hay alguien caminando. - Unas peores que otras.

—¿A cuál refieres tú? - Pude escuchar que la voz venía de frente de donde estaba.

— Las personas; el mal espiritual; lo que hay en la oscuridad...

— ¿Acaso te causo terror? - Pregunta seriamente, no sentí algún tono burlesco.

— Es sólo un ejemplo. No sé si debería temerte. No sé qué eres. - Hay un silencio corto hasta que vuelve hablar.

— ¿Cuál crees que es peor?

— No podría elegir. Según el caso. - Respondo sin esperar a que respondiera mi otra duda.

— ¿Te imaginas todo lo que mencionas en un mismo caso?

— Sería terrible.

— Y lo vives a diario, sólo lo ignoras.

— ¿Cómo?

— Tu mente. La ignoras – Hace una pausa — . ¿Qué podrías encontrar en la profundidad de tu mente eclipsado por la oscura cortina impuesta por la consciencia moral?

Permanezco en silencio un momento y la persona allí parecía esperar mi respuesta.

— No sabría...

— Exacto. La ignoras.

—¿Qué es lo que quieres? - Ya quería dejar los rodeos en esta conversación.

— Quitar la cortina.
