Once upon a time, high up in the sky, there was a tiny star named Twinkle. Twinkle wasn’t the brightest or the biggest star in the sky, but she had something special – a big, brave heart. Every night, Twinkle shined as brightly as she could, hoping to make a difference, even if she wasn’t the most noticeable.

One evening, a strong storm cloud rolled in, covering the sky with thick, dark clouds. The stars were hidden, and the moon was lost behind the storm. Down below, the animals in the forest were worried. They couldn’t see their way home in the dark, and the little creatures were afraid to wander far from their homes.

Twinkle, although small, couldn’t bear to see the forest in such darkness. She closed her eyes and thought to herself, “I may be small, but I can still help.” With all her might, Twinkle shone brighter than she ever had before. Her glow peeped through the cracks in the clouds, lighting up the path for the animals below.

Soon, the deer saw the light and followed it to safety. The rabbits and hedgehogs hopped toward the soft glow, feeling comforted by Twinkle’s brave light. Even the wise old owl flew toward her, guiding the younger birds along the safe path.

The storm lasted through the night, but when the morning sun began to rise, the storm clouds drifted away, revealing the bright, twinkling stars again. Twinkle was exhausted, but she was proud of what she had done. She may have been small, but she had made a big difference.

From that night on, every time a storm cloud rolled in, Twinkle would shine her light, knowing that even the tiniest star can be the brightest when the world needs it most.

And so, Twinkle the Brave Little Star continued to shine, not because she was the biggest, but because her heart was the brightest.

The End.

Heika van Walderveen: I had to get used to the style. It’s a lot of switching and getting back into the story of the characters. Also the different timelines were a bit confusing in the beginning. But once you’re used to it, it’s really quite original. The plot is good, but it’s only book 1 (out of 3), but so far so good...
