Demarcus Steel aka Boy Genius aka Genius Junior has always been at the top of his class intellectually.
Those at Westwood High expected Demarcus to be good at sports, boys that looked like him were expected to run the fastest and jump the highest but Demarcus couldn’t really do all that.
Demarcus was good at reading, writing, his ability to recall information he learned from middle school was amazing.
He definitely lived up to his nicknames in the eyes of his peers. It was no wonder he graduated from Westwood High as valedictorian with a 4.9 GPA.
That .1 still irks him.
He had no crazy rumors swirling about him, even when his good friend Damien Soto brought drama to his door in the form of Noah O’Neil who opened up a whole new world of information with his status as a Carrier.
For the first time in a long while Demarcus was actually clueless.
Carriers? Seeds?
It was all foreign to him.
Who knew that one new friend would bring so much turmoil into his quiet life.
But discovering something new was definitely up his alley, among other things.
The whole Carriers and Seeds ordeal always stuck in the back of Demarcus’s mind. It always kind of scared him to be honest because there was always be that lingering fear of ”what if“.
Noah O’Neil getting pregnant mere weeks after moving to Westwood by the school loner Shade Mikhail was probably the second most interesting thing that happened to Demarcus and his little friend group at the time.
The first being his unexpected encounters with Damien Soto during spring break that same year.
Encounters neither of them spoke of since it happened. An encounter that still lingers in the back of Demarcus’s head even after graduating.
One would think he would forget about the whole thing seeing as life went on as usual afterwards but it always seemed to creep its way right back to the forefront of his memory.
To make matters worse the subject of said lingering memory is now his college housemate, how fun...

A/N: Each chapter (besides the Prologue) has a song listed as its title, the songs chosen I feel encapsulates the overall mood/tone of the chapter. Enjoy reading & listening :)
