Loving Will - Beware of Heartbreak!

"As always, Mae writes an incredibly touching story with emotions that will overrun you. Watch out, this one will break you before it allows you to heal. Characters ❤️ This is the story of Will and Matty, who meet under difficult circumstances, with fate conspiring against them. They have to fight against societal norms, but mostly their own feelings, to come to terms with their undying love for each other. Story ✨ Through flashbacks, we get to piece together how Matty and Will fight for and find each other eventually, but not before many hardships and pain tugging at your heartstrings. The time jumps are so skilfully executed, they are seamless. It is a beautiful slow burn. Writing style ✒️ I loved it! I’ve come to expect nothing but perfection from Mae. Her descriptions are vivid and detailed. The dialogue flows just right and natural. The pacing is on point, the story reads comfortably from the beginning until the very last page. Truly a classic – I would recommend to all lovers of slow burn romance with the power to make your heart ache! "

This story is beautiful, intense, emotional, frustrating, and so well written, and worth reading even if it did bring me to tears, throughout the story. Matty and Will are a beautiful young couple that fall instantly in love when they first meet, but life, and fear on Matty’s part drives them apart, and brings heartbreak to Will for the next five years. Endearing Story and Lovesick Til the End

"Loving Will is a story about two humans coming together in a time of uncertainty and falling absolutely, head-over-heels, in love with one another. Will is older, adventurous, and charismatic. Matty is young, curious, and loyal. They meet in France where Matty lives. He works at a cafe his parents own where he meets Will, instantly feeling a connection with one another. Matty, who's never experienced anything like this is confused by it all, but can't help falling in love with Will even though Matty has only been in relationships with women. Both Will and Matty maneuver through life complications with their significant others as they try to hide their feelings for each other until they no longer can. However, it's difficult for Matty to accept their love and make a commitment to Will given the current cultural and social influences of the time. The book flips back and forth between different timelines where Matty and Will are together, only giving us glimpses of what has transpired in their pasts. I generally don't mind time jumps, but I prefer them to be more linear making it a little easier to follow. This story seems to flip between them sporadically, going backwards and forward, which took me out of the story a few times. If not for the chapter headings I may have been completely lost, so paying attention is key. This story is filled with heartwarming moments, betrayal, and is emotionally charged. These are all things I admire, but I also admire being concise. Some parts of the story seem to drone on with dialogue that doesn't move the plot forward in any way. I became accustomed to Matty and Will's long-winded speeches about why they couldn't be together, excuses, and confessions of love. I do believe the story could've been more clear and condensed without the repetition (or redundancy) in dialogue of scenes. As a reader, the extra emphasis about their passion for one another or how much Will loves hearing Matty speak French doesn't need to be reiterated in most of the chapters. Near the end of the story I started to feel like Matty was more obsessed with Will rather than in love simply because Will was his "first." It got to the point where I wanted Matty to disappear altogether and let Will live in peace, but I knew that couldn't be the end of the story because of a massive time jump in the beginning of them being old together. I think the author did a wonderful job portraying the struggle with one's sexuality in a time where homosexuality wasn't widely accepted. The expectations placed upon the characters to maintain traditional households can be relatable for others who may be facing similar obstacles with their families. I found the reluctance of Will to move on from his summer love and find love with the man Matteo to be particularly interesting. It definitely redefined the meaning of "lovesick" for me with his display of intense loyalty while Matty was still trying to find himself, even going as far as to get married to a woman. I suppose one could say that he was just as infatuated with Matty as Matty was with him. Each character swung very far in different ways: Matty trying to keep up the facade of being "normal", and Will, more or less, taking a vow to never fully love another and basically living like a celibate. Besides the structural and dialogue issues, I found the story to be endearing between these two men. It was truly an emotional rollercoaster showing us what "right person, wrong time" truly means. Thank you for the read!"

A story that would make you understand love and impact of mistakes

"Till now i have read 6 chapters and it touches on a beautiful, heartfelt love between two men. The narrative effortlessly transitions into past nostalgia, where their memories of how they met and fell in love are moving and emotional. The way they reflect on their past moments together creates an undeniable connection and depth to their relationship. Only thing i could say I faced was , when the story shifts back to the present, the dialogues become a bit confusing and jumbled for me, making it harder to follow and fully invest in the characters’ current emotional struggles. Despite these issues, I feel the foundation of the story remains captivating, and the emotional weight of their love is still compelling. Overall great job writing this one."
