Unexpected

It's been a sunny, uneventful day.

I’m currently clearing out the paper chaos on my desk that has accumulated since my holiday.

My diary is so full of meetings and appointments for the rest of the week that I really need to use the time now to get an overview.

There’s also a PR meeting with our management today, which I’m sure I’ll have to catch up on.

An internet celebrity wants to collect donations for our children’s homes during a live stream.

His crew has signed up for a preliminary meeting today to discuss all the do’s and don’ts with our management.

I should actually be happy about, after all, most of our kids think he’s

really cool and have been looking forward to it ever since they found out about it.

But I have my reservations and have the feeling that our work and the children are being used for clicks and fame.

While I’m frowning and reading through last week’s reports, I hear the main entrance doorbell ring.

I wait briefly to see if my boss feels comfortable opening the door on his own.

At the second ring, I get up in frustration. Of course, he lets me go, even though his office is much closer to the front door.

As I’m walking down the stairs, the doorbell rings a third time.

‘Yes, I’m already on my way - don’t rush.’ I shout, annoyed, as I assume that someone has forgotten their key.

Already prepared to go on a little tirade about why the person hasn’t taken a key, I open the door and choke on my words.

Standing in front of me is the man himself. Erik, the internet celebrity: a tattooed bad boy, tall with broad shoulders, an engaging smile, deep dark eyes and just my type.

‘Hey.’ he greets me with a grin.

I quickly collect myself and put on my professional smile.

‘Hey.’ I say back calmly, unable to take my eyes off his eyes and face. God, he’s hot.

‘We have an appointment with Mr Werl. It’s about a fundraiser we’d like to organise here,’ he says without averting his eyes.

‘Y-yes, of course. I’m Joyce, one of the social workers.’

‘Hello Joyce.’ Erik says with a gentleness that makes me forget everything.

‘Hello.’ I suddenly hear three more voices and look behind him into three knowing, grinning faces. I hadn’t even noticed the others until then.

‘Come along then.’ I turn round and lead the way.

I can still feel Erik’s stare at my back and my stomach tightens.

Not because of fear or because it’s unpleasant. No, it’s pure sexual attraction.

To distract my thoughts, I give Erik and his crew a quick tour on the way to my boss’s office.

Once I’ve handed them over to him, I quickly return to my office.

Fortunately, my presence is not necessary for the appointment, because I don’t think I could have concentrated on the conversation in any way. e hier zu schreiben...
