Mythology Chapter
If you are new to my works, welcome! If you are returning, you know the drill of these dark and sinful works. Here is the mythology chapter to make the short story better and flow faster. Story begins in chapter two.
Story Terminology and changes to true mythology
The chimera is a creature of multiple animals, most notably it is in Greek mythology (though it appears in many others) as a mix of a lion, goat and serpent. The tail is serpent the main head that of a lion and then a goat head as well. Some sources state that the chimera is in the same class of mythical creatures as Cerberus and the Sphinx. It is referred to as female in mythology. Our story chimera can be both.
Phylon is our main chimera in this story. He is male.
He does not have multiple heads. Only one that is merged of the goat/ram horns and lion face. His tail is serpent-like and ends in a split that can open and close. It roars fire, however, it does not have a face on the tail. Sorry die die-hard chimera fans.
chimeras in this world are a well of magic. consuming any part of a chimera will increase life expectancy and increase magical ability. Over time consumption of chimera blood or flesh can start to change the user genetically and alter them.
Submission- Chimeras use this term for many things. If someone can make a chimera submit by force or choice they gain ability over the creature for a given time. The one that makes them submit, the chimera is unable to cause harm to. Willful submission is complete, and something done between partners. Never to any other.
Fertility cycle- Male and Female Chimeras are only fertile once every 50 years. Their cycles must match to mate. During this time females are fertile, males are potent. A male must be potent at the same time a female is fertile to successfully mate in case above was unclear.
Mating- A male and female not only have to match cycles but a female and male need their chemistry to align as well. This is called being open. Chimera can go through several cycles staying with a partner so they will align if it does not happen the first time.
Chimeras were created as a mash of creatures by a being long ago in this story. As such they do have a human form that they can only take when the moon is full. Or they can take the form during their fertility cycle at will, as their body chemistry changes and allows them to with their magic. Otherwise they stay as their creature, they can not be a human outside of their cycle or moon phase.
Chimera’s have been hunted to extinction because of their properties and consuming them gives magic and power to witches and warlocks. Phylon is the last known chimera, and he is looking for a mate before his revenge...
