PROLOGUE

Twelve Years Ago

The void stretched endless before him. It was a place where time did not touch, and thought did not stir. Drifting in a sea of stillness—suspended between existence and oblivion—he did not dream, he did not breathe, he did not move.

He simply was.

Silence pressed heavy here, bearing down on his consciousness. The boundaries of non-existence trembled as the membrane between emptiness and being grew thinner with each moment. Until—

Light.

It lanced, suddenly, through the abyss, not merely piercing the darkness but unraveling it, thread by ancient thread. It did not burn, nor did it blind. It transformed.

And then, a voice. A command. “Rise.”

Reality shuddered as power surged through him, shattering the void with a sound like splintering glass, cracks of light spreading outward from where he rested. First came sensation—the weight of his great form materializing, muscle by muscle, bone by ancient bone. Then awareness—of fur rippling across his back, of claws extending from massive paws, of strength surging through veins that had not carried life for centuries.

The voice echoed not only in his ears but through his very essence—eternal, familiar.

His Creator.

Light embraced him as his golden eyes opened fully, no longer a spear but a tide, lifting him from shadow to radiance. He took his first breath in this reborn state and stepped forward into the place where time and eternity met.

The celestial realm revealed itself in layers of wonder as the vast expanse shifted between deep midnight and iridescent silver. The stars—not distant points but intimate, alive—pulsed and flickered as they wove themselves into strands of living light around him. The air itself caressed his fur, thrumming with something primordial, something more felt than heard—the quiet murmur of fate itself.

Only when he was fully present, fully himself again, did he see Her.

Selene.

She was radiance itself. Golden eyes reflecting infinite timelines, silver hair flowing as if caught in an unseen current. His Goddess was beautiful, boundless, the source of all things.

He stepped closer, great paws pressing into something not quite solid. The ground rippled like liquid silver, yielding and reforming around each footfall in recognition of his presence. He towered before Her—fur midnight-dark, absorbing light like the void he’d emerged from. Yet where Selene’s radiance touched him, it caught and held, igniting the molten gold of his eyes until they blazed with primal power.

He lowered his head in reverence before his Goddess, but Selene reached forward, lifting his chin with two fingers, guiding his gaze back to Hers.

“You do not bow to me, Fenrir.” Her voice caressed like moonlight. “You rise with me.”

And so, he did.

Around his Goddess, threads of golden light wove through the air—pasts, presents, and futures coexisting in luminous tapestry. Her fingers grazed the fabric of reality, which parted like gossamer beneath Her touch, revealing the world below.

Fenrir followed her gaze.

A male lay sleeping, wrapped in the dim glow of moonlight. Another lay beside him—his arm curled around the first—their breaths steady, synchronized. They were young, on the cusp of something not yet realized.

Selene watched them, Her expression unreadable. “He is the one,” She said. “His name is Caleb.” Her words settled into the realm as truth.

Fenrir studied the male She had chosen. He was strong, frame lean and promising. He bore the blood of Caelum, lineage unbroken, a future alpha written in his bones.

“His line is pure.” Fenrir’s voice rumbled low, vibrating through the ethereal space. “Is he worthy?”

Selene’s lips remained still, golden gaze shifting meaningfully to the second form. Fenrir followed Her focus, massive head tilting in mirror to Hers. The second male—the one curled around the chosen future alpha—was not of Caelum’s line.

The longer Fenrir watched, the clearer it became. Even in sleep, Caleb sought the other male’s presence. The male held Caleb close as if keeping him safe even from his dreams. It was more than loyalty. More than friendship. It was something deeper. Something undeniable.

Fenrir inhaled sharply as realization dawned in his golden eyes. “It’s not just him.”

Selene’s lips curved faintly. “No,” She said. “It’s them.”

She spoke the next words with the finality of a truth that had always existed, merely waiting to be voiced. “The other male, Asher, is bound to him. He will be Caleb’s beta. His blade. His partner in all things.”

Fenrir’s eyes widened. “His blood... it’s also undiluted.”

Selene nodded. “He carries the legacy of Caelum’s beta, Askr.”

Understanding and purpose settled in Fenrir’s chest, taking root where doubt had lingered.

The tapestry shimmered again, and from Caleb’s future, a glow pulsed—soft at first, then stronger.

“My light will awaken in him only when he is mated and marked.”

Fenrir’s gaze lingered on Caleb’s beta. “To Asher?”

Selene tilted her head, a glimmer in Her ageless eyes. “Not alone.”

The words settled like a decree, already forging a new thread of destiny. Fenrir’s eyes narrowed slightly. “Then who?”

Selene watched the two males with a wistful smile. “They will need a female,” She said. “A kind and open heart. A strong will. One who can anchor them both and carry on the bloodlines.”

“Can two wolves share a mate?” Fenrir asked.

“My children of the ridge have a long history of shared mates,” Selene said. “As you were already mated when I found you, I honored their existing bonds as well.” She turned back to Fenrir, golden gaze meeting his. “You will choose her, and I will bind them. All three of them.”

Fenrir exhaled, letting the importance of this decision settle over him, and nodded. “I will choose well.”

Selene’s approval glowed around him. “You will be born again as Caleb’s wolf. You must guide him back to his people,” She said. “Through him, they will come back to me.”

The vast light of Selene’s realm flickered, as Fenrir considered his Goddess’s charge. ”I have lived before. Loved before.” He paused, the memory of his mate, Mira, surfacing—the warmth of her presence, the way she had been his foundation and balance, the legacy of their pups... That life was gone. Mira and their pups lingered now only as starlight, their souls a halo over the mortal realm.

Selene waited, patient and silent, allowing him space to release the past.

Finally, Fenrir exhaled. “Mira is at peace. I am ready.” He would honor his Goddess’s will and embrace his future.

Selene nodded, gaze drifting to another thread in the tapestry. Its golden glow was tinged with shadow. “Jealousy grows deep in the hearts of my children forged in fire,” She murmured. “I fear the lengths they will go to build their legacy.”

Fenrir’s ears flattened then pricked forward, the fur along his spine rising with unease. “Can you stop it?”

Selene’s glow dimmed, sorrow brushing across Her expression. “My children have learned to stray without me. I can no longer guide their hands. I hoped the mating bonds would heal their hearts, but they are so divided. They do not always find them anymore.” Her tone filled with rising contempt as she continued. “They’ve forsaken my gift, sought to mimic it and create bonds of their own. I’ve blessed those that were true, but too many are formed from greed, not from love.”

Her gazed returned to Caleb and Asher. “Their love is pure. They will be united in everything, but Caleb cannot fight the darkness ahead with Asher alone,” She said meeting Fenrir’s eyes.

The celestial glow around Her flared brighter, casting the realm into pure, blinding radiance. The tapestry shifted again, revealing more—alliances yet to be forged. “Moonshadow and Blackwater will be his greatest allies.” Selene’s voice carried through the realm weaving together sacral bonds. “Their loyalty runs deeper than they yet understand.”

Her fingers traced a golden thread in the tapestry, following its path as it intertwined with others. Where Her touch lingered, the threads brightened, pulsing with potential. “Crescent Fang must stand beside them—” She paused, the light around Her shuttering momentarily. “—despite their pride, despite their history. They must return to their people.”

The tapestry rippled beneath Her palm, reshaping itself. Another thread emerged, pulsing with a fierce red glow that cast shadows across her luminous features. “He will need Bloodstone too.” She cupped the red thread in Her palm, examining it with omniscient eyes. “Their influence is strong—it will help Caleb bring the others in—but their hearts have hardened.” Her fingers tightened around the thread, as if She could reshape it through will alone. “They must learn what they have forgotten—that power alone is not faith. The Bloodstone heir and his mate will be the key. Their union and their friendship with Caleb and Asher will open the door.”

Her hand fell away from the tapestry, expression softening with maternal concern. “In time, the others will follow.” Selene turned, facing Fenrir fully, golden eyes resolute. “It is not dominance, but unity and love, that will return my children to me.”

Fenrir understood now. Caleb’s strength alone would not be enough. Crescent Fang had strayed too far from its purpose. They needed to return to the fold, or the Goddesses’ blessings would be lost to the wolves forever. Caleb would not just lead, he needed to unite.

Fenrir bowed his head in reverence, a silent vow before his Goddess. “I will not fail you.”

Selene’s golden gaze warmed at the wolf, the light around Her pulsing with pride and affection. “You never have.”

Reaching forward, She pressed a palm to his brow. The celestial realm faded—

And Fenrir was gone.

HOLY SHIT! I KNEW Caleb was giving “chosen one” energy in book 1!

Fantastic start for Chosen. so many fun clues and questions! If Fenrir was rebirthed to guide Caleb and crescent fang back to the collective, why did it take so long and why did he initially resist going to the summit? Also, that “bloodstone heir and his mate” that has to be Kai and Lena! does that mean Caleb is going to have a harder time uniting the packs because they broke up? Selene’s plan said that Asher and Caleb would share a mate, but the books summary says that Caleb’s mate doesn’t have a bond with Asher 😭 I need them to be ok. they are the best couple!
