Summary

FLAME Some cages are made of iron. Others are built in the mind. Chris Adler learned that silence was easier than being seen. With scars too deep to explain, he built walls no one could scale, finding solace in his isolation. Until the life-threatening tumour. Until counting days to his death. And then, the day he was forced to hire a personal assistant. Isa Smith didn’t want the job. She wanted to sing, to step into the spotlight. But her mother’s voice echoed louder than her own, and burying her dreams became a necessity to seek approval. Now she’s stuck in an office with a cold, distant man—a man whose fire seems to burn brighter than the ice surrounding him. What neither of them expected was recognition. Because before life tore them apart, they were each other’s first love. But the past doesn’t stay buried for long— Some flames never truly die. Can love find its voice again… before time runs out?

Beyond the Cage

Beyond the Cage

There he stands,

trapped within his own world,

peering through iron bars,

gazing at the open, endless sky—

bitterness and hatred filling his heart.

“Why?” he cries.

“Let me go, you prison!”

His voice, heavy with rage and sorrow,

echoes through the hollow walls.

“How cruel you are, to lock me away

while the world runs free!”

But the prison only whispers back:

“I do no evil, I cast no chains.

It is not I who holds you—

but the whispers you heeded at noon,

the watchmen you feared at night.”

“Your thoughts are your prison walls,

your mind the warden of your fate.

The bars were never locked,

yet you remain caged,

blinded by the weight of your own belief.”

But now, the dawn has come.

The shadows have lifted.

Gone are the days of hatred and fear,

for he sees with new eyes.

“I am free.”

No longer bound by the voices of doubt,

no longer shackled by the fear of judgment.

The world was never closed—

he had only to step beyond his mind.

And now, he walks forward,

light in his heart,

joy in his steps,

at last—unchained.

Honest first impressions. The poem as an open took me by surprise, and it truly works as a standalone poem without me having to dive into your next chapter. Never knew you were one for poetry, but at the same time it fits your lovely personality
