Growing up, I was taught there were monsters in the hollowed-out places of the mountains, forests, and hills beyond the fences. But this year, the bitter winter lasted too long, and my heart heeded its sad song. The cruelty of my mother chilled my spirit worse than the winter wind, so I foolishly rebelled against the teachings of the clan. When spring came, the wildflowers bloomed in the warmth of the new season. I had to see them, smell them, taste them, even if it was by Moonlight. So, I broke the first mantra, I went beyond the fences, and I was bitten. Now, I am fleeing for my life from those who would kill and eat me, and the malevolent intent of the Witch mother of the one who changed me.

My whole life I had hidden what I was, a rare, royal scarlet wolf. My father one of the few red Lycans was a beast in a castle that my grandfather traded her to for his own freedom. He was one of the monsters of nightmares and legend. My mother escaped to birth me and left me with my grandmother as a babe. Now my secret is revealed, and I have been given an impossible task, find my best friend and bring him back to marry the princess who rejected him or marry the prince myself to save both our families. The Kingdoms after the evolution plagues are a dangerous place to travel alone, especially for a young maiden rogue wolf.
