Chapter 1

My name is Mia—a young, independent, single woman. I consider myself someone so busy with work and personal projects that being in a relationship has never really crossed my mind. I’m laser-focused on what I'm passionate about. But somehow, I found myself spending more and more time with a guy named Smael.

Smael and I have mutual friends, which is how our friendship began.

We first met in person during a get-together with friends, and that’s when we exchanged numbers.

One evening, as I was scrolling through Instagram, I got a WhatsApp message from him:

Smael:

— Hey, how are you doing?

Me:

— Hi Smael, I’m good, and you?

Smael:

— I’m good too. Just wanted to check in on you.

Me:

— Oh, that’s sweet. Thanks.

Smael:

— Have a great night.

Me:

— Thanks, you too.

Smael:

— Thank you.

The next day looked promising.

After work, I had some free time and felt like going for a walk. But I didn’t want to go alone.

In my thoughts:

What if I called Sandi? No, she’s busy. I forgot—she already has plans with her boyfriend tonight.

What about Smael? Hmm… Maybe it’s too soon. What would he think of me?

But hey, it’s 2025. Times have changed. Let’s give it a shot.

I texted him on WhatsApp:

Me:

— Hey, how are you doing?

Smael:

— Hey Mia, I’m good. And you?

Me:

— I’m good too, thanks.

— Do you have any plans tonight?

Smael:

— Not really.

Me:

— Would you like to take a walk in the park?

Smael:

— Why not? I’ll pick you up at 8 PM.

Me:

— Sounds good. See you then.

Around 8 PM, he came to pick me up. From that moment on, everything started to unfold naturally.

We drove to the park, parked the car, and took a stroll. Eventually, we found a bench and sat down, exhausted.

The weather was beautiful, and the sky was mesmerizing. Our conversation flowed effortlessly.

There aren’t enough lines to describe everything we talked about.

We had so much to share, and our minds were so in sync, our words almost felt connected by magic.

Bit by bit, I could feel our energies moving closer. The closer they got, the harder it became to look him in the eyes.

And God, his eyes are beautiful!

We had a wonderful evening, and he dropped me off at home.

Since that day, we became really close.

But at the time, I didn’t feel anything romantic. There was no flirting between us—just two friends who talked about everything, openly and freely.

We talked so often that we began to realize how much we actually had in common.

We shared our emotions, our passions, and even what upset us.

That’s when I started appreciating his personality, his values, his sensitivity, the way he sees life… and his eyes.

I discovered in him an exceptional man—respectful, open-minded, mature, incredibly kind, and wise.

But, as life would have it, things never go as planned.

One day, we went for another walk in the park. We found a quiet spot to sit, and while he was talking… I completely stopped listening.

All I could think about was me, leaning toward him, cutting him off mid-sentence, just to taste his lips.

Which… is exactly what I did.

He was surprised, of course—but he didn’t break eye contact.

I could tell he wanted to kiss me back, but something in him held back—like he was waiting for the right moment.

Still, I found his lips sweet and soft like honey.

Suddenly, silence fell between us.

Neither of us felt like talking anymore, so we decided to head back.

He dropped me off in front of my apartment.

Me:

— Thanks for the ride. Good night.

Him:

— You’re welcome. Good night to you too.

I got out of the car and headed inside.

Once I closed the door behind me, I smiled to myself.

I figured I’d take a shower, grab something to eat, and head to bed.

To be continued...
