Introduction
Viviano “Viv” Vitale is an 18 year old Italian college student who resides in America. Bitter and sarcastic, he is the newly checked in patient of a dull psychiatric ward after a quiet breakdown that no one in his life saw coming—not even him. He hates his name, his smile, and the way everyone keeps telling him he’s “too normal to be here.”
His new roommate, a nonbinary teen who barely speaks, seems withdrawn, guarded, and seem to exist in another world entirely. Viv’s instinct is to ignore them completely.
What follows is a slow, uneasy connection built through silence, notes, and nighttime conversations when the rest of the ward is asleep. Viv doesn’t understand his own pain, let alone anyone else’s—but in trying to figure this person out, he might start seeing himself a little clearer too.
