Summary

Dani never stopped running — not for freedom, but to avoid standing still. Now stranded and stripped of everything, she lands beneath the gaze of Amadora Quintero: a prosecutor, a mother, and a woman built from silence and control. One is all soft glances and buried scars. The other, courtroom steel and hands that don’t know gentleness. When a nanny job turns into something far less innocent, tension blooms — slow, sharp, and far past appropriate. One craves control. The other? Craves surrender (full synopsis inside)

Synopsis

Synopsis + Warnings

Dani has only ever known the road.

The floaters were her friends. The gas stations, her pit stops. Her van — her only home, her only constant. She spent her life drifting from state to state, picking up hitchhikers, chasing stories that weren’t her own. It was a lifestyle she once romanticized — a freedom she clung to. The truth is, Dani never kept moving because she was free—she kept moving because she was afraid to stop.

When that fragile illusion begins to crack, Dani finds herself stranded at an orchard in Oregon — tired, untethered, and unsure what comes next. Her plan is simple: find shelter, save money, and leave again before anyone gets too close. But then she meets Amadora.

Amadora Quintero is a woman built from sharp edges and courtroom silence. A seasoned prosecutor, single mother, and relentless force in a system designed to fail. She’s spent years keeping her heart barricaded behind logic, control, and long-forgotten pleasure. Romance is impractical. Desire is irrelevant. And softness? She doesn’t have time for softness.

But Dani isn’t soft. She’s composed. Disarming. The kind of woman who makes people talk without asking, who’s lived more lives than her twenty-two years should allow. Her homelessness is dressed in daydreams, her instability disguised by warmth. Amadora sees the delusion — and the brilliance beneath it. She takes Dani in, not just as a nanny, but as a curiosity she can’t seem to stop unraveling.

And from the moment they share space, something simmers beneath every glance, every touch, every silence that lingers too long.

There’s heat in the way Dani listens — her body reacting before her mind dares to.

There’s hunger in the way Amadora watches — not patient, but calculating, as if she’s measuring how much the girl can take.

Her hands don’t promise comfort; they promise control.

The tension doesn’t soften, it cuts — sharp, deliberate, leaving Dani caught between dread and desire.

Unspoken want. Boundaries pressed thin.

Neither of them are prepared for how intoxicating it feels to be undone.

Warnings:

This book is adult romance with erotic chapterS in it. if you're not looking for smut, then don't walk this way.

Age Gap Dani is 22 and Amadora is 34.

I think I'd dub this a gray romance. Not exactly sick enough to be a dark romance and not exactly fluffy enough to just be regular contemporary romance.

She kinky up in here too. Think BDSM but don't be scared :(

Lust At First Sight you pick up on that early on. This is NOT insta-love. However, Dani feels magnetized to Amadora's coldness and is attracted to her ( I mean who wouldn't be?); Amadora sees Dani as prey to a game she hasn't played in a while.

There will be mentions of suicide, death, BPD, depression, drug addiction, sexual assault, homelessness, and child abuse. I will put trigger warnings where I feel they are necessary. Remember that this story is meant to be a bit more on the gritty side so it will be grounded in hard core reality when faced with these themes.

On a personal note, Dani is a character I relate to from my personal experiences in life. Being raised homeless, surrounded by drug addicts, and being exposed to the harsh realities of life at an early age, is what connects me with Dani and some of her encounters. Because of my connection to these themes, I will not be sugar coating anything. I write this from a 3rd POV while still maintaining Dani's illusion of stability in her life as a homeless woman and that's as sugary as it gets.

Amadora is a prosecutor, but I am not. I will try my best to make it somewhat the real deal but please don't expect it to be 100% technically correct.

Thank you!!!
