Deviant is a novel that’s compelling and wonderful well written. Sophia is a talented author and the blend of languages and storytelling paints a picture that will take readers of her work to another place. The grammar and structure is nearly flawless and the flow works well. While not my typical genre this deserves the respect it should receive by readers and writers alike.

Eliza's book starts out with action right from the gate. Which is not a bad trait, but she has little to almost no true description of Dagon. For most readers from my experience piecing together the look and appearance of your main character doesn't need to be dragged out as it could distort the way they are imagined. Some of the English translates a little off, but being from Chile Eliza does a terrific job at keeping the story flowing and not having a wide gap in her English skills.

Now, I'm not big on fantasy, or anything that perceives angels v. demons but the story was good in detail but I felt like it bounced around out of the blue with little to back up why it went in the direction it did. Like how at the beginning of another chapter here's this new location and all these new characters and the back story filled in near the end of the chapter like in Chapters 2 and 3, you leap from the dark world to the human realm with no foreshadowing to it. Also, the lack of names at times, like for the attacking angel in chapter 1, felt like a throwaway scene. Even if it's a quick common name, give something to the character even knowing you're going to kill them, or use them only once.
